Chapter 124
Trevon’s eyes were downcast, his gaze icy as he scoffed. “Divorce? In your dreams! And as for elders, it seems you only learned the worst of their teachings!”
“Honey, remember our marriage is just a
contract for a year… she reminded gently
“I’ll turn that year into a lifetime. Trevon retorted confidently.
“Oh?” Selina’s interest was piqued, and her delicate hands moved to adjust Trevon’s tie, her lips parting slightly. “Your mother seems quite sure…that our union won’t end well.
“Sweetheart, whether or not we last, whether we’re happy or not, that’s for us to decide, Trevon said firmly. Unable to resist any longer, he scooped Selina up and headed upstairs. After all, there were too many prying eyes in the living room.
Snuggled in Trevon’s arms. Selina looked up at him. “Honey, you’re home early today and it’s still a while before dinner. How about we go to the office? I’ll be your secretary for free, help you out with the grunt work. What do you think?”
“Behaving so well. have you done something naughty?” Trevon teased.
“Geez, I was wandering around the villa today and accidentally smashed a vase…” she revealed with a guilty giggle.
Thanks to Devin’s explanation, Selina found out that the vase was a priceless antique from 700 years ago, worth millions, and it was irreplaceable. Even with her wealth, Selina couldn’t keep up with this costly clumsiness. Just like a week ago, she accidentally destroyed a one–of–a–kind piece of calligraphy, and 13 million dollars down the drain. Staying in Trevon’s villa required tiptoeing around lest she break something worth millions of dollars. Yet Selina, with her carefree attitude, was surrounded by priceless treasures, and she could only hope to not break anymore.
Trevon’s mouth curled up with a playful arc, “Oh, so just an afternoon’s punishment? Honey, I feel I’m getting the short end of the stick here.”
Selina rolled her eyes playfully, “Then add another day, and no complaining, okay? After all, remember how much money I’ve made for you and Brilliance as Angel. It’s only fair to call it even!”
“One day isn’t enough. How about a week?” he bargained.
Trevon, you dare to haggle with me! As the old saying goes, a man’s mouth can talk a ghost into believing lies. You said you wanted to take care of me so I could splurge for generations, and it would never catch up to how fast you make money.”
“Three days, he offered a compromise.
“Deal! Honey, I also want some of those cupcakes you bake!” Selina announced victoriously
Lately, Trevon had picked up some pastry skills from who knows where, and the cupcakes he made were top–notch. Made with premium deep–sea cream that supposedly wouldn’t pile on the pounds, Selina could indulge happily.
Trevon leaned in closer to the delicate beauty in his arms, nuzzling her forehead with his nose, tenderly and lovingly, “Sure.” The next day, Selina followed Trevon to the Insight Group headquarters. The moment Selina showed up, the whole company was abuzz Rumors had been flying that Selina’s sudden drop into Brilliance was orchestrated by none other than Trevon himself. Plus, Selina’s real identity as the world–renowned jewelry designer Angel, combined with her stunning looks, made the two a dreamy match in the eyes of onlookers. When spotted together at Insight Group, they were the very picture of a perfect couple. And there were those moments where they’d lean in close as if sharing intimate secrets… OMG! The shipper’s heart just about exploded! At the same time, the sound of countless hearts breaking could almost be heard- might Selina be the fabled secret romance of Trevon? Damn, it was jealousy–inducing, yet one couldn’t help but admit they looked good together!
Once inside Trevon’s private elevator, with just the two of them there, Selina looped her arm through Trevon’s: “Honey. I

hope Andrew is not holding a grudge for me swooping in and taking over just like that.”
“He wouldn’t dare. Trevon confidently replied.

“Wow… that makes you one bad boss. Poor Andrew has been slaving away for you for years, and this is how you repay his loyalty?
“Honey, it seems you don’t feel like eating the strawberry mini–cake I made for you. Trying to pick on your hubby on your first day, huh?”
“Alright. I’ll stop talking. Selina conceded.
She wanted to tease Trevon more, but he had her sweet tooth wrapped around his finger, holding her dessert lifeline. Strangely enough. Trevon’s mini–cakes tasted heavenly when he made them. Selina had even tried to learn from him, but her attenapts fell short. She suspected he held back some secret ingredient, but he hadn’t. She had watched him make it step by step, no steps skipped. It was clear that Trevon had a natural gift for cooking–his skill tree maxed out from birth, capturing her through her stomach which, as they say, was the way to a woman’s heart..
They settled into his office, and Selina slipped easily into her work, proving the age–old saying that couples who work together, stay together. The morning flew by in a breeze. Trevon wrapped an arm around Selina, enjoying the rare quiet moment on a sofa in his office. She snuggled in, munching on his homemade strawberry cake, looking every bit the adorable squirrel.
“Why don’t you come work as my personal secretary for real?” Trevon proposed seriously, lacking any hint of jest. “I could assign Andrew to another department.”
Selina didn’t miss a beat before declining “Pass. I married you for a life of comfort, not to toil away. I might not love the socialite scene, but I’m also not keen on becoming a harried housewife.” She devoured the last piece of her cupcake, relishing the rich, lingering taste of the mousse–utterly irresistible.
