Chapter 187
selon and Lydia had already set off early after receiving a villager’s task.
A villager owned a traditional medicine store, which specialized in fresh herbs harvested from the nearby mountains rather than artificially cultivated ones. These natural herbs were more effective and affordable, leading to high demand. Lately, the store’s herb supplies had been insufficient, and they didn’t have enough workers to send up the mountain to collect more..
Thus, the task was quite challenging Selina and Lydia had to accurately identify the herbs, bring the necessary tools, and head up the nearby mountain to gather them.
If they picked the wrong herbs, the task would be deemed a failure, and their efforts would have been in vain.
Only those familiar with the herbs growing environment, confident in their physical stamina, and who knew their way around the mountains could hope to complete this task successfully.
Selma and Lydia accepted the task without hesitation.
As they walked out of the traditional medicine store, they happened to run into Ashley’s group.
As people used to say, “When enemies come face to face, their eyes blaze with hate.” Joseph’s face immediately darkened. The production team wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by The live cameras instantly focused on the two groups.
“Ignore them. Selina. Let’s go, Lydia said, holding the tools, map, and compass provided by the store. She raised her eyebrows disdainfully at Joseph and the others before leading Selina away.
The onlookers were sad
Many people thought, We missed the chance to witness some drama again! Why didn’t Selina capitalize on her earlier momentum and keep arguing?”
Garren looked at the situation carefully and said, “Judging by their stance and the fact that they just came out of the traditional medicine store, they probably accepted the task of digging herbs,”
“Digging herbs? Her? Hmph, she didn’t even graduate from middle school. She probably can’t even write, let alone remember what herbs look like. Joseph sneered, which was rare of him. He usually maintained his composure, but Selina
pushed him too far. Still, he wasn’t about to let his words be broadcast openly on live television, so he kept his voice low.
“Should we also take the herb–gathering task? Based on my experience, these types of tasks tend to offer better rewards. If we’re lucky and gather enough herbs, we could even have all of tomorrow’s ingredients ready. Plus, we’d earn points, which could be exchanged for furniture for our rooms…” Garrett trailed off, glancing at Ashley. He and Joseph didn’t mind roughing it out as men, but Ashley was a girl. It would be tough for her if their room lacked essentials. If they earned points, they could exchange them for things Ashley could use.
enough
“Of course, we can. I’ve read books about medicinal herbs. I believe finding them won’t be difficult,” Joseph replied, sharing Garrett’s thoughts. Though points didn’t significantly affect the show’s difficulty, improving their living conditions was a big deal. Naturally, he wanted his precious Ashley to live comfortably.
Ashley clenched her fists, cheering herself on. “Tll try my best! I won’t hold you and Garrett back.”
Ashley had read about medicinal herbs before and believed that with Joseph and Garrett’s help, gathering them wouldn’t be difficult. The real challenge for Ashley was competing with Selina in the show! She wanted to thoroughly crush Selina so that everyone would believe Ashley was superiori

Chapter 187
Earlier that morning, Ashley had been the center of attention,
Selina had snatched the spotlight from her, leaving Ashley faming. This time, Ashley was determined to gather more herbond complete the task faster and better than Selina, making her love far in front of the entire national audience!
With their decision made, Joseph’s group headed to the traditional medicine store to accept the task and then marched toward the mountains with great enthusiasm.
Strangely, they hadn’t seen any trace of Selina and Lydia along the way.
Could they have moved that fast? Are they already on the mountain? they wondered,
Not wanting to fall behind. Ashley and her group pushed on, crossing fields and following the map toward the mountain.
As they walked, Ashley suddenly yelped, “Ouch!”
What’s wrong. Ashley? Garrett and Joseph both asked, their voices filled with concern.
1–I’m fine Ashley forced a smile through the pain as sweat beaded on her forehead. She tried to keep going, limping
forward.
However, the pain was intense, too intense. After only a few steps, she almost fell.
Garrett and Joseph quickly stepped forward to support her, one on each side, like devoted knights protecting their princess.
The live cameras captured this scene, instantly triggering dissatisfaction among Garrett’s fans.
Afan commented: [Garrett, wake up! You’re an idol! What are you doing?]
One comment read: [His solo fans, romance fans, and mommy fans are all unhappy.]
Another comment read: [Just look at Garrett’s eyes. He clearly has feelings for Ashley.]
One of Garrett’s fans retorted: [Nonsensel Garrett only sees Ashley as a little sister.]
One comment read: [Joseph, her biological brother, is here. Why would she need Garrett? Is he just playing the fool?]
Another concurred: [Yeah, never mind if Joseph takes care of her, as he’s her brother, but what’s Garrett even doing? This is obviously a crush!]
Garrett’s fans felt their hearts shatter.
Still, the more rational ones comforted each other in the comment section, saying that Garrett only saw Ashley as a sister. It was perfectly normal for him to care about her. They were teammates after all. Even if they weren’t, anyone would ask how she was doing if they saw someone they knew get injured.
However, seeing the scene did make some of Garrett’s fans uncomfortable. The more irrational ones began criticizing Ashley in the comments, accusing her of being as “pretentious” as Selina had once claimed. Who would wear canvas shoes just for looks when they were about to go into the mountains?
Garrett and Joseph realized the problem too. Ashley’s shoes looked like sneakers but were actually canvas shoes. Given Ashley’s petite figure, it was easy for her to get injured in such shoes.
“I’m sorry, Joseph, Garrett. I thought I could do it. I never expected things would turn out like this…” Ashley’s eyes were filled with tears, her voice trembling as she tried to hold back sobs. She truly didn’t want to drag them down. After all, being a burden to her teammates wasn’t the impression she wanted to give. She didn’t want to become a target for hate!
