Joseph and Garrett’s faces darkened as they faced Lydia’s taunts, unable to retort. They hadn’t completed their task yet and hadn’t even managed to find their own portion of the herbs. 

They were so hungry that they had no energy left for climbing. They decided that they had to return to Cherry Blossom Manor to see if there was anything to eat to replenish their strength. Otherwise, they might not find all the medicinal herbs before dark. 

As they arrived back at Cherry Blossom Manor, they were greeted by a strong aroma of salmon. The scent grew even more intense as they entered the manor. It was clear that Selina and Lydia had caught a salmon while completing their task, and the hunger made the aroma seem even more delicious. 

Garrett’s stomach rumbled uncontrollably. 

Lydia commented, “Selina, I think I heard something strange.” 

“Probably someone is so hungry they can’t stand it anymore,” Selina replied. 

Garrett’s face turned red with embarrassment, thinking that Selina and Lydia were being rather rude. He was an idol, after all, and being talked about like that in front of so many on a live broadcast was just too much. It felt like they were attacking him as well. 

“Joseph, Garrett, you’re back? You must be starving. I’ve already prepared lunch.” Ashley, having heard the commotion, came out. Ignoring Selina and Lydia, she limped over to Joseph and Garrett with a bright smile. 

Joseph was surprised and said, “Ashley, how can you be cooking? You’re in this condition.”

Ashley said, “I definitely had to cook. Due to my own issues, I couldn’t help out with the task, and I feel very guilty. Now making lunch for you two is the only thing I can do. I’m sorry. I don’t have many ingredients, so you’ll have to make do with buns and pickles for lunch.” 

Seeing Ashley’s look of guilt, Joseph and Garrett were deeply moved. Joseph quickly comforted her, “Ashley, don’t say that. No one wanted things to turn out this way. You wanted to help and prepare lunch for us, saving us time. That’s enough!” 

Joseph then glared at Selina. This time, he had learned his lesson and did not lose his composure in front of the live broadcast. If he had to confront Selina, it would have to wait until after the broadcast!

Knowing that Ashley’s intentions were anything but pure, this move clearly aimed to put Selina in a difficult position while making Ashley look good. Selina was not going to indulge Ashley, and Lydia wouldn’t either. Bringing it up there was meant to embarrass Ashley and expose her true nature as a manipulative girl! 

Joseph exclaimed, “What? Ashley, why…” 

Ashley explained, “Sorry, Joseph. I feel so guilty, I thought you two were working hard while I was sidelined due to my foot injury. The only thing I could do was to prepare lunch. But I had so few ingredients. Seeing that Selina and Lydia got so many from their task, I thought…” 

Lydia cut her off, “So you asked deliberately, knowing Selina would want to refuse but wouldn’t in front of the live audience. You put her in a tough spot!” 

“I didn’t!” Ashley’s eyes filled with tears as she looked at Lydia. “Lydia, I have no grudge against you. Why are you accusing me like this? I didn’t think that way!” 

“Whether you’re innocent or not, you know best I’m just speaking out to expose your real intentions!” Lydia had been busy eating earlier, and now she had time to deal with Ashley. She was not going to leave until Ashley was thoroughly embarrassed. 

Now it was Selina’s turn to sit back and enjoy the show. She was completely uninvolved, merely enjoying the drama. 

Joseph declared, “Lydia, I won’t allow you to talk about Ashley like that!” 

Garrett concurred, “Yes, Ashley definitely didn’t mean what you’re implying. Your accusations are baseless and excessive!” 

Lydia said, “In my eyes, it does mean that. Our relationship is strained, and that’s obvious to anyone who isn’t blind. She actively came forward, got rejected, and then cried, claiming she didn’t do anything. What a manipulative woman! 

“Hey!” Joseph and Garrett were about to lose their tempers. If not for the fact that they were on a variety show and that Lydia was a woman, they might have slapped her! ‘How could she bully Ashley like this?‘ they fumed inwardly. 

“Selina, will you not control your so–called senior? Are you just going to let her slander Ashley?” Joseph could not hold back any longer and shouted at Selina. 

Selina shrugged indifferently. “Slander? Are you out of your mind? Go see a doctor. Lydia’s just stating facts. Since it’s the truth, why shouldn’t she say it?” 

Joseph nearly exploded and cursed himself. He knew Selina had no sense of shame and
