The elevator finally reached the thirtieth floor, and as Andrew a Selina stepped out, Christina was quick to stick close with a beaming smile. “Selina, I haven’t got you on WhatsApp yet. We’re practically family now, and meeting like this must be fate! There’s this amazing restaurant nearby. Let’s go there. There’s so much I want to know about Selina. How did you ever mrt The one
“First off, just call me Selina. No need for formalities. I don’t like it when outsiders call me otherwise. Second, it’s not just anybody who gets to add me on WhatsApp, Sorry. It’s not that I find you lacking, but since you’re Madelyn’s cousin, you must have heard about my temperament. I’m direct and don’t be around the bush, no hard feelings.”
Leaving Christina in stunned silence with that statement, Selina walked away with Andrew. When Hannah finally regained her composure, her fists clenched in fury. That wench! She dared to repeatedly snub Christina’s admiration, and without the slightest bit of courtesy, too!
Just as Madelyn had described, Selina was nothing but a conceited upstart who looked down on everyone, certain she was a cut above the rest. Christina was convinced that the day would come when Trevon would discard Selina and Selina would fall from grace, becoming nothing more than a doormat for everyone to step on
Andrew glanced sideways at Selina with a hint of admiration. “Mrs. Brady sure knows how to stand her ground, even with the Hudson family,”
Flipping a strand of hair behind her ear nonchalantly, Selina responded, “Whether to show them any kindness is up to my husband. One condition I had for marrying Trevon was to never have to play by anyone else’s rules, including husband.”
Andrew couldn’t help but admire her. Part of Selina’s confidence came from being the top hacker on the dark web. She was the kind of heavyweight that world leaders could only dream of having on their side. To Selina, the Hudson family was hardly worth a second glance, and if they crossed her, they were just playing with fire.
Still, Andrew found it hard to believe that such an influential figure was just a twenty–one–year–old woman who hadn’t even finished middle school. During his first close encounter with Selina, Andrew could sense that it wasn’t just about her enchanting beauty, but there was an aura around her, a certain kind of unmatchable presence that came from absolute self-
assurance.
When Selina arrived at the office with Andrew, the designers in charge of drafting the new project proposals instantly halted their work. Clearly, Andrew commanded immense respect among them.
The office was adorned with glamorous men and women who graced the covers of fashion magazines, but one peculiar man caught Selina’s attention. Standing at a height of 6 feet, he wore a white shirt haphazardly tucked into his jeans on one side,. sporting flip–flops and thick–rimmed black glasses. His long bangs and radiant skin even made Selina envious. This striking man rose from his chaotic desk and approached Andrew, ruffling his nest–like hair and asking with natural ease, “What brings you here?”
“Derrick, I gave you a heads–up on the phone. This is Selina. Mr. Brady decided she would be joining our team to compete in the Sokovis Jewelry Design Contest in just six days. She’s here today to get the lay of the land.”
Upon hearing Andrew’s words, the office went quiet
Brilliance’s jewelry designers turned slightly hostile as they glared at Selina. Even Christina, who followed them in, couldn’t help but freeze in shock.
“She’s participating? Are
you joking?” Derrick sized Selina up and frowned deeply. “Design isn’t just about looking good. If you want to represent Brilliance in the competition, you need skill and a portfolio! Everyone here was handpicked for their talent. Andrew, you know this. Did Mr. Brady forget what he promised us when he hired us?”
“Of course not,” Andrew replied smoothly, “Mr. Brady and Ms. Harvey made their intentions clear, and she gets a chance to prove herself. Everyone at Brilliance got here by merit, and it’s herit that will speak for itself. Whether she gets to compete will depend on Ms. Harvey’s work.”

Andrew turned to Selina. Ms. Harvey, that’s acceptable to you, right?”
“What a beautiful response, thank you.”

Even with Andrew showing such deference to Selina, everyone in the room was left guessing about her real identity. Could she be a world–renowned prodigy who had even caught Trevon’s eye?
They had never heard of Selina before. Whatever it was, in this office, your work spoke the loudest. Aside from Derrick, they’d never been impressed by anyone else and had always relied on their talent and creativity to compete for every award, each aspiring to advance to higher positions.
For Selina to use her connection to Trevon to grab the Sokovis Jewelry Design Contest wouldn’t fly with Derrick, nor would the other’s consent. If things didn’t go well, who knew how many would leave Brilliance, a cost Trevon was surely aware of.
