Never Again Yours (Isadora and Magnus) novel Chapter 275

Victor gripped the steering wheel with one hand while his other elbow rested casually against the open car window. His dark, intense gaze flicked up to the rearview mirror.

He watched as the woman stepped out of the car without a backward glance and strode directly into the Vaughan Building.

Victor let out a soft, dismissive laugh.

Leaving Seafarer Designs, only to return to The Vaughan Group? Something must have happened in between.

It couldn’t possibly be as simple as a few vague explanations.

If Victor wanted to know what was going on with her, it would be easy enough—just a word, and his people could dig up everything.

But he didn’t want to do it that way.

He wanted to wait for Isadora to tell him herself.

Just then, his phone buzzed on the center console.

Victor glanced at the screen.

It was a call from his grandmother.

He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel for a few seconds before finally connecting the call to the car’s audio system.

On the other end, Deanna’s voice came through, gentle but carrying a note of gravity.

“My dear boy, you came back from Europe and didn’t even stop by home?”

Victor spun the wheel with one hand. “I had something to take care of yesterday.”

Deanna had already heard the real story from his assistant, who’d returned with him—Isadora had picked him up at the airport, which was why he hadn’t come home.

Thinking of this, Deanna’s expression darkened, though her voice remained warm and affectionate.

“Your grandfather woke up and heard what your uncle did at the European factory. He’s upset—come back to the family house today.”

Victor pressed down on the gas, the engine roaring as the sports car hurtled down the road. He gave a low grunt of acknowledgment.

The Fitzgerald Group.

After a week on the road, Victor’s schedule was relentless—one high-stakes meeting after another.

During yet another conference, he sat at the head of the table, looking relaxed, his attention drifting from the presenter to his phone lying silent on the table.

From morning till afternoon, there’d been no news.

As the meeting paused for a break, Victor picked up the latest investment report handed over by one of the execs, flipping through it idly.

A few department heads seated further down caught a glimpse of something peeking out from under Victor’s collar—a small wildcat sticker. They struggled to stifle their laughter.
