The next second, her phone rang.
Isadora tightened her grip and answered the call.
A chilling voice came through, cutting through the noise around her.
"If you don't want anything to happen to your mother or your friend, you'd better not mention Mr. Fitzgerald at today's press conference. Not a word."
The line went dead before she could respond.
Isadora looked up and spotted someone in the far corner.
Deanna's housekeeper, Pattie, stood there, her face shadowed and tense. Lowering her phone, she locked eyes with Isadora across the crowd, a cold, knowing smile curling on her lips before she turned and disappeared.
As Isadora froze, the reporters, sensing something amiss, pressed in even closer. "President Vaughan, who's your boyfriend? Come on, give us a name!"
"Yeah, don't keep us in suspense! Everyone's dying to know!"
Terrell noticed the change in Isadora's expression right after she took the call. Concerned, he stepped forward and whispered, "Isadora, what happened?"
Her knuckles were white from clutching the phone. Why did they have to push her like this?
Every time she tried to take a brave step toward Victor, every time she felt happiness was finally within reach, Deanna found a way to tear it all apart.
Was she really so unworthy of Victor?
Swallowing the storm of emotion rising in her chest, Isadora steadied her voice and said, enunciating every word, "My relationship is a private matter. I'm sorry, but I won't be answering that question."
With that, she set the microphone down and walked out.
Belinda, startled, scrambled to pick up the mic Isadora had left behind.

The readers' comments on the novel: Never Again Yours (Isadora and Magnus)
It takes too long to get to the point. Too much unnecessary in between in all of these books. Too many extra characters, the authors lose the plot after a while....
