Victor put on his most serious face. "Look, even if I've never been in this situation myself, I'm not completely clueless. I'm giving you a chance—give me your best suggestion."

Finley could only stare, speechless.

A chance, really? As if Victor wasn't the one out of ideas in the first place.

Well, that tracked. Mr. Fitzgerald—such a hopeless romantic.

No matter what it was, every one of his "first times" had only ever been with Isadora.

Finley straightened his tie and gave a dramatic sigh. "Alright, I suppose I can bless you with my dazzlingly romantic brain."

He grinned. "You know what's all the rage lately? Proposing underwater—imagine this: you're scuba diving, and you appear from behind a coral reef, ring in your mouth, holding a sign that says, ‘Will you marry me?' It's magical, once-in-a-lifetime stuff. Isadora would have to say yes!"

He got so carried away by his own imagination, for a moment he even pictured himself proposing. But bizarrely, the woman he imagined wasn't anyone he'd ever dated—it was her. Ridiculous.

He snapped back to reality and looked up, only to find Victor eyeing him with a frosty glare. "So you want my daughter floating around in the ocean, is that it?" Victor's voice was colder than ice.

Finley smacked his forehead. "Oh, right—Isadora's pregnant! Sorry, that completely slipped my mind. Scratch that one. Next idea!"

He racked his brains for another romantic proposal, only for Victor to shoot down every suggestion with a flat, unimpressed expression.

No matter how romantic the idea, Victor had a reason to veto it—sometimes with nothing more than a look that said, "Is that really the best you can do?"

By the end, Finley was starting to wonder if his brain had turned to mush.

"Alright, last one! Picture this: you're in Iceland, waiting for the northern lights to appear. You get down on one knee as the aurora bursts across the sky. A reindeer trots up with the ring. Under those lights, you make your vow—no woman could say no to that!"

Victor narrowed his eyes, thinking it over. "The reindeer could be swapped for Pudding—Pudding can't exactly go to the Arctic, but we could change the setting. It's not impossible."
