James could not believe his luck.

Of all people, he was worried that he would be pitted against Marcello or the Son of Heaven. The two of them had long crossed into the Herculean rank, whereas he, on the other hand, had only just reached the Supernatural rank. Even his Inner Gates were untouched. Now, the only thing he could rely on was his physical body.

However, even though his physical body was strong, he was still weaker than those at the Supernatural Consummation rank.

Though his physical strength had increased after cultivating inside the Celestial Abode, his hopes of defeating the Son of Heaven were close to non-existent.

The Son of Heaven glanced at James as a faint smile crept up on his face.

The only person he was afraid of was Marcello as he could not see through him. When he heard that James would be his opponent, he breathed a sigh of relief. He would definitely emerge victorious.

James believed that the shadow’s decision was unfair. He wanted to obtain the Celestial Abode, but he did not wish to fight against the Son of Heaven.

“May I know how the distribution works? Do you assign our opponents based on strength?” James voiced his doubts.

The shadow shook its head slightly and said, “No, this was a random distribution. However, since you were able to make it here, the disparity in strength between you and your opponent shouldn’t be that great. At most, you’ll only be slightly weaker, so it’s only natural to distribute them randomly. Do you have any objections?”

The shadow looked in James’ direction.

“Of course.” James stepped forward and said, “My cultivation base is weak. Besides, I’ve only just crossed into the Supernatural rank, and I’ve yet to release a single Inner Gate. He, on the other hand, is at least a Herculean. The disparity between us is huge.”

“Is that so?” The shadow glanced at the Son of Heaven before looking at James, giggling. “In that case, why don’t I grant you the right to jump straight to the ninth barrier if you defeat him?”

How could he turn down such an offer? This was the closest he was to the Celestial Abode. As such, he would not and could not turn down the shadow’s offer.

“You must have a death wish.” The Son of Heaven glared at James and grunted. Though he was displeased by the shadow’s partiality, he did not reveal his thoughts.

After deciding on the first matchup, the shadow looked at the others and continued assigning opponents.
