Soon, James came to the mountain range where ordinary disciples lived.
He walked over to Melany's small courtyard house and gently knocked on the door.
He knocked for a while, but no one responded.
‘Is she not home?’ James wondered to himself.
Then, he leaped over the fence and entered the courtyard.
No one was around the courtyard, and the door to her house was shut tight.
“Who’s there?”
A voice came from inside, and footsteps approached. Soon, the door was swung open.
James parted his lips and greeted her, “Melany…”
Before he could finish speaking, he noticed that Melany’s body was covered in injuries. He could not help asking, “What happened? How did you get hurt?”
“It’s you, James! You’re back?”
Melany said smilingly, “I’m alright. I’ll be fine after cultivating for some time.”
Then, she beckoned James into the house. Her house was very tidy.
Melany went and made some tea for James.
James looked at Melany’s bruised face and the injuries all over her body. He also noticed that through her collar, there were bandages around her neck.
“Have some tea, James.”
Melany served a cup of tea to James.
James stared at her and asked, “What’s going on? Are you getting bullied?”
“N-No,” Melany replied instantly.
James said, “You can tell me. I’m Sir Yoan’s disciple now. I can help you resolve the matter.”
“I’m really fine.” Melany sat down.
James knew she had a good heart and that there was definitely something going on.
