Chapter 1409 I Won’t Abandon You
A moment ago, the hostility between Gareth and Eden drew the crowd's attention.
Moreover, Eden behaved in such a pitiful manner and spoke as if they had wronged him.
What the heck? He made it seem like I was playing with two men's feelings.
Elisa could not stand it anymore. She wielded a needle in her hand and aimed it at Eden. However, Eden speedily grabbed her hand before she could succeed.
Then, he smiled and said, "Liz, you can't suddenly soften and be nice to me whenever I get angry. I might get the wrong ideas. After all, I'm a man, and you're a woman. That's not the right way to do things."
Elisa would never allow Eden to drag her down this way. She immediately attacked with another hand. Eden reached out for her simultaneously, causing her to fall backward. He deliberately leaned toward her.
Suddenly, strong arms wrapped themselves around her waist and pulled her away.
Then, Elisa smelled the light tobacco and the familiar scent of herbs.
Eden had no choice but to let go of Elisa's hand.
He stood before Elisa and Gareth with a smile. However, the smile was barely perceptible, and he had an intimidatingly cold aura surrounding him.
Then, he scoffed and said, "Liz, it is fine to reject me. But must you show off your affection with your ex-husband before me?"
"You accused me of being insincere, but from what I see, you lack sincerity. I wanted very little, yet you are unwilling to fulfill my condition. How could you expect me to reveal everything to you? There is no such thing as a free lunch."
Eden sneered after saying that and raised his hand.
Then, a dozen tall and burly men immediately rushed in, surrounding Gareth and Elisa.
At the same time, Gareth helped Elisa to stand up.
The two glanced at the scene before them with cold and calm gazes.
They had long guessed Eden was up to something. It turned out he had secretly arranged so many people against them.
Elisa sneered, "There has never been a woman who wants to kill me. It's you who wants me dead, right?"
Eden had orchestrated everything that night and acted as her rescuer. He did it likely because he was bored of watching from afar and thought he could have fun fooling others.
Hearing Elisa's words, Gareth immediately pulled her behind him to protect her.
Then, he scoffed and said, "Liz, it is fine to reject me. But must you show off your affection with your ex-husband before me?"
Elisa's heart felt heavy at seeing this instinctive gesture.
She blamed herself for dragging Gareth into this mess.
Eden smiled as he denied, "That's not true. You're intelligent enough to see through my disguise. How could you not figure out my real intentions? You have two options today. You leave with me, or my men will take you and Gareth by force."
Eden threw the choices to Elisa.
He had been observing their every move and came here to take Elisa with him.
Elisa frowned. Eden had summoned so many people over. It showed he had a backup plan prepared. As Elisa was still hesitating about whether to leave with Eden, Gareth said sternly, "What makes you think we would give in?"
Gareth appeared cold and confident. His eyes flashed murderously.
Elisa was stunned and glanced at him. "Gareth…"
She did not know what else to say.
Gareth turned to her and said solemnly, "I won't abandon you. Please also have faith in yourself. You shouldn't…"
He whispered the final two words, but Elisa keenly sensed the earnestness in his tone.
