Chapter 1419 You Have Been Warned
Irene noticed how Eden's expression had turned solemn after she had spoken.
She saw her chance and continued, "The best way to solve this is to kill Elisa. Her death is required to stabilize our position. Furthermore, the casino's owner will attend today's gathering."
"So what?" Eden frowned and appeared impatient.
Irene answered calmly, "Do you have no idea who the casino's owner is?"
Eden looked at her with emotionless amber eyes. "Do you know?"
Irene sensed she had gotten Eden's interest and replied with a smile, "Perhaps we can convince him to join our side. As long as Elisa remains in Moranta and you don't get in the way, I'm confident I can kill her."
Irene seemed confident about this.
Eden snorted and said, "You have better give up on this. The casino owner arranged for people to keep Elisa under heavy guard. You will need the casino's owner's permission to kill her."
After saying that, Eden returned to the couch and sat down. He crossed his long legs and appeared alluringly handsome.
Irene looked at the arrogant man in disbelief. "What… What did you say?"
Eden sneered and smirked mockingly before saying, "If you don't believe me, you can arrange for people to survey the place Elisa is staying in. Don't forget. KKCD Casino is the largest casino in Moranta. He must have been immensely influential to be able to achieve this. Therefore, don't even think of hurting someone under his protection, especially in his territory."
Irene did not speak. Her eyes turned cold and flickered with a hint of ruthlessness.
She did not expect Elisa to be so lucky as to attain the casino owner's protection.
Soon, she laughed coldly. "The casino owner can only protect her there."
Since she had decided to kill Elisa, she would not give up so easily.
Furthermore, Irene could not risk Elisa ruining everything she had. Therefore, she firmly believed Elisa must die.
Eden saw her determination and did not want to waste more time talking to her. Instead, he sneered indifferently, "Don't say I didn't warn you."
"Hmph! You will thank me once I kill Elisa." Irene smiled maliciously before turning around and leaving.
Although she was not of pure royal lineage, she had been pampered for years and was prideful. Moreover, she enjoyed a prominent status and was a nobility. Thus, she would not let outsiders overshadow or look down on her.
…
On the final day of the auction, Elisa was busy taking care of Gareth and Terry's four subordinates. She and Thomas had to work without rest from morning till noon to prepare medicine for them.
Furthermore, Gareth's condition had turned erratic and was different from usual. Even medicine could not control it.
He alternated between high fever and chills all over his body.
Elisa suffered through a lot to take care of him around the clock.
Whenever he had chills, she had to cover him with a blanket and bring him out to get some sunlight to warm him up. When he developed a fever, she had to cool him down. She was busy all day and did not even have time to take a break and drink some water.
Elisa was tired and out of breath. "Thomas, he should be the one to return home and not me. What about you arranging a private flight to bring him home? I will go back once I finish dealing with everything."
"But…" Thomas appeared troubled. He shook his head and replied, "Ms. Benett, that's not what Mr. Wickam wants. He will kill me if I do as you say."
