The man stared at Elisa, seemingly unable to believe her words, as if he was trying to determine the truth.
Elisa didn't rush to prove herself. Instead, she changed her approach and calmly took a seat across from the man.
"By telling us sooner, there might still be a chance to save your wife and child. Instead of urgently explaining the situation, you're asking me if I'm deceiving you... What kind of logic is this?"
The man snapped out of his daze, seemingly understanding Elisa's point, and finally regained his composure.
He replied, "I'll tell you. I'll tell you everything I know. I can explain everything you want to know. All I ask is that you save my wife and child."
Since the conversation had reached that point, Ernest quickly signaled one of the junior officers to begin the interrogation.
Meanwhile, he led Elisa to the lounge next to the interrogation room.
He poured a cup of hot water and handed it to her.
Elisa graciously accepted it. A hot drink was just what she needed on a day like that. With one sip, it felt as if her entire body had warmed up.
"Have you changed your clothes?" Ernest asked with concern, and Elisa nodded in response.
"Let's see then. We'll also see if he's lying," Ernest said, and Elisa nodded in agreement.
The two of them began observing everything that was happening in the interrogation room.
In contrast, Elisa seemed somewhat indifferent.
In the interrogation room, the young policeman first asked the man about his home address, marital status, and basic information about his household members, following protocol.
Next, they verified this information with the details gathered during their investigation.
