Elisa sat down and continued eating with her fork.
Despite her words, it was truly difficult to resist indulging in the delicious and appetizing dishes spread out before her.
Gareth felt utterly helpless.
"I'm not exaggerating. Deep down, you know that what I'm saying is true. Next time... At the very least, try not to be so reckless, alright? Just think about me. If anything were to happen to you, I would be devastated."
Elisa was taken aback as she lifted her head, locking eyes with Gareth.
Realizing that he had unintentionally revealed his innermost thoughts, Gareth quickly added, "And Rachel is waiting for you at home too."
Elisa nodded, acknowledging that she had acted impulsively. However, given the circumstances, she had no other choice.
Whether it was for the sake of the company or another life, she couldn't simply stand by and watch Baxter jump.
So, even if history were to repeat itself, she would still make the exact same choice.
This was something Gareth understood well, so he refrained from commenting further.
And so, the two of them quietly finished their meal in silence.
After dinner, Elisa tidied up the table, not allowing Gareth to lift a finger.
"Since you cooked, I'll do the dishes. There's a dishwasher, so I'm just clearing the table. It's not a big deal." Elisa changed the subject. "Also, you should go upstairs, take a shower, and rest early."
"And what about you?" Gareth gazed deeply at her, his eyes filled with an indescribable emotion.
Elisa shrugged her shoulders, deliberately avoiding eye contact. "I slept all afternoon, so I'm not tired now. Anyway, you should go ahead."
As she spoke, Elisa began to push Gareth.
However, when Gareth grabbed Elisa's hand, the momentum caused him to fall backward.
Fear filled Elisa's widened eyes as her face drained of color.
