“I really didn't know. I couldn't believe it when I heard the servants talking about it, too. I only knew it was true after I saw you.” Hearing Elisa's words, the woman was initially slightly taken aback. But it did not take long for her to give her response, which acted as both an explanation and a testament to her innocence.
“So what if it's real, and so what if it's not? Do you think you can make him let me go?” Elisa refuted immediately. The mocking look crossing her lips was particularly noticeable.
She noticed the pallor on the woman's face, which she believed was the result of long-term illness and severe deficiency of energy and blood.
Mr. Carrerra talking about treatment and Ganoderma Caligo... Is it all for her sake?
However, as soon as Elisa finished her sentence, the woman widened her eyes and stared at her in disbelief. “W-What did you say?”
That expression could fool no one. It was evident that she was truly unaware.
And in the next moment, seemingly losing her balance, she staggered backward. Seeing her on the verge of falling, Elisa instinctively tried to help her.
It was only then Elisa realized that she was too weak to be of any help.
“I won't say more if you're unaware of anything. I need to rest now. Also, my relationship with Mr. Carrerra isn't what you imagine it to be.”
She rushed over in high spirits when she heard that her brother has brought a girl back, and I understand why she'd react that way. That said, that doesn't mean I can forgive what Mr. Carrerra has done!
“Then, take a good rest.”
The woman clutched her chest and left after saying those words.
Elisa, however, noticed the former's tightly furrowed brows.
No sooner had the woman left than Elisa heard a loud bang. Following that, a large crowd rushed up to her, with Mr. Carrerra taking the lead.
Before Elisa could figure out what was going on, she was abruptly pulled up from the bed by Mr. Carrerra.
