Amused, Elisa burst out in laughter, in contrast to her original disgusted look.
Gareth was stunned for a moment when he saw Elisa’s smile. It was as if her smile could melt his cold aura.
He stared at her and remained silent while waiting for her response.
The next second, Elisa replied with a faint smile, “Gareth, I know you have other motives – you want to collaborate with me. You’re not like someone who would make a U-turn.”
“I’m not a car.” Gareth spat word by word with his eyes fixed on Elisa.
Elisa chuckled. “Humans can make a U-turn too.” For example, you go back on your words.
Gareth’s expression turned serious while Elisa continued casually, “I have no idea what your motive is. Benett Corporation will continue partnering with you. I’m sure you’ve heard that they plan to extend the collaboration for one year, and you’ve given them a chance. Furthermore, you’ll be partnering in my project too. I can’t think of any other motives that can only be achieved by reconciling with me.”
Just then, Elisa paused for a moment as she thought of something. Then, her smile stiffened. Looking into Gareth’s cold eyes, she wore a sarcastic smile. “Or, would you rather sacrifice your marriage in order to defeat Will?”
Gareth blurted frostily, “I can promise you three things. Firstly, I’ll never divorce you. Secondly, I agree to have children if that’s your wish. Thirdly, Benett Corporation will never topple, and you’ll be the company’s leader.”
Elisa’s heart jolted as her body froze. She could feel her heart squeezing.
If she had been given these promises in the past, she would be in seventh heaven despite knowing that Gareth’s heart belonged to someone else, not her.
