Elisa felt exasperated and didn’t say anything in the end.
Sheena smiled. “Alright, that’s all for now. I’ll let you know how Carle is later.”
“Alright, thanks for your trouble.”
“Don’t mention it.”
The two of them didn’t say anything else and hung up.
Elisa had a complicated expression. She didn’t know how to deal with it.
She picked up her laptop and took a deep breath before she continued her work.
Around half an hour later, Sheena arrived at Carle’s house.
Holly was very welcoming to Sheena when she saw her. She spoke enthusiastically to Sheena for a while before Sheena went to look for Carle.
After all, Carle wasn’t in good condition.
Holly had no other way.
Topics trended one after another. Carle didn’t dare to call Elisa when he saw the new trending topics.
When he became aware of a visitor, he subconsciously thought it would be Elisa coming to explain to him in person.
He never thought that when he raised his head in anticipation…
The person he saw would be… Sheena.
Carle looked away in disappointment. He said calmly, “You’re here.”
Sheena’s gaze fell on Carle. He looked thinner, and his complexion was paler than usual. Even his eyes lost their previous tender-heartedness.
Of course, Carle had never directed his tenderness to Sheena, but the light in his eyes seemed to have disappeared.
Furthermore… he had stubble on his chin, and he looked haggard.
Sheena was suddenly filled with distress. There was an unspeakable sadness in her eyes. “Carle, how did you fall into such a state?”
