Nicole’s lips were pressed into a line.
Then, Sharon hugged her. “Don’t overthink this. If fate allows it, be with him; otherwise, just give up. I don’t want you to be entangled with him any further – it’s not like you to do so. I don’t want you to be obsessed with him any further.”
Nicole’s lips trembled. She could tell that Sharon wanted her to give up on Gareth.
But… I’m unable to do that. He is such an outstanding man.
Her mind was filled with images of Gareth looking handsome, decisive, and elegant.
It was impossible for her to forget him, which was also devastating for her.
After a moment of silence, she couldn’t help asking, “Mom, what do you think they were doing?”
Sharon frowned. “No one knows. Perhaps Mrs. Wickam wanted them to reconcile. When Gareth plucked roses for Elisa, Mrs. Wickam was there, wasn’t she?”
Nicole pursed her lips again as Sharon continued, “We were told yesterday that it was Elisa who made the company announcement, and so Mrs. Wickam forced Gareth to head over. How true is it, in your opinion?”
Sharon didn’t want to overanalyze the situation with Nicole for fear that Nicole might be even more obsessed with Gareth, but she didn’t want to lie to her daughter either.
Since Nicole wasn’t dim-witted, she would eventually realize that anyway. She was merely clouded by sadness at that moment.
