Her words had convinced Nicole, who thought about it before replying, "I'll think about it."
Veronica knew it meant she had decided to do something about it.
However, she had no clue what Nicole was going to do.
Her phone suddenly rang.
Veronica shot a glance at it. It was Linda.
Hesitance flickered in her gaze, but she quickly retracted it and started eating.
Nicole took the call without any explanation. Before she could say anything, Linda asked, "You must have read my messages. I wonder if you have verified them?"
Nicole replied calmly, "What do you want?"
"Help you, of course." Linda smiled, but Nicole's frown deepened.
Linda continued, "I'm sure you know my past. I have no chances with Gareth whatsoever. I just don't want Elisa to hurt him."
Nicole remained silent as though she was questioning Linda's intentions.
Nonetheless, Linda lost her patience and started speaking again. "I bet you already know whether what I told you is true, and you also know my situation with Gareth. At three o'clock later, I'll wait for you at the same spot. If you don't show up, it means you don't trust me, and there's no point in continuing this correspondence. But, if you trust me, we can talk further."
With that, Linda hung up without waiting for Nicole's answer.
The frown never ceased on Nicole's face as she placed her phone down and looked at Veronica. "You heard that – what do you think?"
Veronica's gaze flickered as she gulped down the food in her mouth. "I feel that… she might be telling the truth. Linda once used Gareth. Gareth must be an idiot to think highly of her."
Nicole remained silent.
Hence, Veronica continued to analyze the situation. "I think Linda doesn't get along with Elisa. To her, anyone can be with Gareth except Elisa. She might find another person to do the same thing if you disagree. But I'm worried that this might be an extreme plan of hers to use you and stop you from getting together with Gareth. She might be trying to ruin everyone's life."
"She doesn't have the guts," Nicole replied coolly.
Veronica nodded. "You're right. The Benett family is in a perilous situation now – they depend on Wickam Group for dear life. If she makes you an enemy, it would be equivalent to making the entire Tabor family her enemy. It would be a great loss to them."
Nicole remained silent, but it was a tacit agreement.
Veronica smiled. "Since she doesn't dare to play any tricks, why don't you work with her? Should I accompany you to meet her in the afternoon?"
Nicole nodded. "Sure."
"Let's tuck in. The dishes are getting cold." Veronica smiled.
