Elisa knew she couldn't break free, so she stopped struggling. It was also because she felt tired.
She looked at Gareth disbelievingly. How can he say such a thing?!
Her gaze instantly made Gareth feel slightly uneasy.
After a moment's pause, she shook her head. "How did you become like this, Gareth Wickam?"
There was nothing but coldness in Gareth's eyes.
"Are you really compromising yourself like this for profit? Wickam Group is huge today because of you. Aren't you satisfied? Why are you controlling me? Are you still the arrogant and noble Gareth?"
Gareth found it hard to breathe.
"Do you think all I care about is profit?!"
Elisa suddenly sneered aloud. "Isn't this what you said? You thought I was suitable."
Gareth was dumbstruck.
He suddenly didn't know what to say but couldn't release his rage. It was suppressed by what Elisa said.
If Vincent were around, he would have mercilessly ridiculed and mocked Gareth without hesitation since Gareth put on an act!
The two suddenly fell silent.
Elisa was still sitting in his lap. She tried to struggle a few more times but couldn't escape.
Gareth didn't know that holding her in his arms would feel so good.
His gaze fell on Elisa's cheeks. Her exquisite face was slightly flushed because of her rage, and her cheekbones were pronounced. Her long, thick, and curled lashes were fluttering slightly. It stirred something within Gareth.
His gaze dimmed slightly.
"Isn't that the case? There's no way you will marry anyone other than me."
Elisa suddenly laughed in her rage at his arrogant words. She turned and looked at his handsome yet overcast face. Elisa sneered. "Why can't I marry anyone else? Must I stick around and mope over you forever?"
Gareth's expression suddenly darkened!
This d*mn woman never says anything nice!
Elisa couldn't break free from him, and she was exhausted. She took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "Let go of me. What on earth are you doing, Gareth Wickam?"
Gareth's sharp gaze fell on her, but her cell phone suddenly rang before she could say anything.
Elisa furrowed her brows and opened her bag to take her cell phone out. Both of them saw the number on the screen.
Elisa looked at him coldly. "Can you let go of me?"
Gareth didn't move, and his expression was icy.
His meaning was clear. This doesn't stop you from answering the phone.
Elisa gritted her teeth and struggled again but failed. She could only let him hug her as she answered the call because she didn't want the caller to wait long.
"Hi, Grandma."
"Hey, Liz. What are you doing now?" Julia was worried and anxious, but she had to restrain herself.
Elisa looked down at how she was in Gareth's arms and was slightly annoyed but said calmly, "Not much. What's up, Grandma?"
"Are… you with the Darcey fellow?"
Elisa's eyes flashed. It was evident that Grandma had been on Twitter. Elisa said softly, "No. Is something wrong, Grandma?"
"It's good that you're not together. That's great." Julia said it twice. She seemed to have sighed in relief. After that, her worried voice rang again.
