"Nonsense! That is completely ridiculous!" Norman spluttered, but as his microphone was still off, people sitting a distance away from him could not hear him.
Those surrounding him heard him quite clearly.
But they ignored him. They were all stunned by what Elisa had just revealed.
How could Norman and his family do something so cold-blooded?!
They were in disbelief! Yet at the same time, they knew that things like this happened more often than they realized. It was human nature, after all!
People would go to great lengths when it came to money.
People without conscience would hurt their own family and friends for it.
No one paid Norman any mind. They didn't even want to look at him. All eyes were on Elisa, waiting for her to say something.
Elisa stood up and picked up her files of evidence.
The audience found something strange.
Previously, Elisa wasn't one to bring anything with her when she came to court. She said whatever she wanted, but it was so convincing and indisputable that no one could find fault with her. So why was it that she had brought them with her?
Was there something special in those files?
Elisa's calm voice sounded in the large room.
"This is the evidence I found. This is the ingredients of the medicine they gave my father. I've also brought the medicine with me."
The court officer approached Elisa and took her files, bringing them to the judge.
Norman was almost hyperventilating. His microphone was still muted. No one would be able to hear what he had to say.
His lawyer raised his hand. The judge nodded, and the court admin switched their microphones back on.
"Defendant, you may speak."
Norman's lawyer finally had an opportunity. "The evidence isn't substantial. I think it might even be fabricated. How could she prove that her father had taken this medicine? Has the medicine been tampered with?"
Elisa glanced at Norman. Noticing that he agreed with his lawyer, Elisa smirked.
She couldn't be bothered with both of them. She addressed the judge again.
"All the details are in the document. Please have a look, Your Honor."
The judge nodded.
Norman started to look a little strange, and so did Rose and Linda.
"What's happening now? Does Elisa have a contingency plan for that too? Or did that b*tch take advantage of some loopholes?!" Linda whispered so that only Rose could hear her.
Rose frowned. She didn't know what was happening and grew even more nervous.
She wasn't clear on how Elisa did things but was familiar with Iris' methods.
Iris would never go to court without a sure chance of winning.
She must have contingency plans upon contingency plans if she decided to make this public.
Did Elisa really find something?! What are they going to do?!
While their anxiety was rising, the judge looked up and addressed the audience, "We will further investigate and verify Iris' claims and cooperate with the police before judgment can be made. The court is adjourned sine die."
The judge picked up the files and got up to leave.
