Lila and I sat on the couch in the bar. Colorful neon lights shone on the dense crowd around us, but somehow, I couldn't lift my spirits.
Lila was furious. "How could Alex do that? Why would he get mad at you for no reason? My poor Serena didn't even get to say anything."
I took a deep breath and downed the glass of alcohol. "Actually, I know that Alex and I can't be together. But now that the moment has really come, my heart aches."
Lila came forward and hugged me. "It's my fault. Back then, I let you rush into it without knowing the truth. It's all my fault, Serena."
"How could it be your fault?" I said, leaning against Lila as my head felt a little dizzy. "Thank goodness I have you, Lila."
Lila stroked my chin gently, comforting me, "Don't worry, Serena. I'll always stay with you. I'm different from that jerk."
I wanted to respond to her words, but I felt too drowsy to do so. Even my eyelids felt so heavy that I could hardly keep my eyes open. In the midst of all that, I heard my phone ring. I reached out to take it, but Lila beat me to it. "Hello? Who is it?"
I had no idea who the caller was. All I knew was that Lila did not seem too pleased. "Oh, it's you? Why are you calling Serena? Alright. We're at a bar. I'll send you the location."
Upon hanging up, Lila tilted her head and rested it on mine. "Who was it?" I asked weakly.
"It's that jerk. He says he wants to pick you up," answered Lila weakly.
I tried to process Lila's answer, figuring out who the jerk was and why he wanted to pick me up. Suddenly, I snapped back to my senses due to the shock I felt, feeling more sober. "What did you say?"
