Alex looked at Ronald condescendingly. "My company doesn't collaborate with ungrateful people."
"What do you mean?"
"The Watsons have already found out the real reason Pauline went mad. They're on their way now."
"What?" Ronald's face turned pale with fear. "The… Watsons… It wasn't me! I didn't drive her insane. It was Jolene who did. She found Pauline and lied to her, saying she was pregnant—that's the real reason!"
"Save those words for the Watsons." Alex kicked away Ronald, who was clutching his pant leg, before turning to leave.
I shot Jolene a challenging glare. "The Watsons won't let you off."
"It wasn't me!" With her face full of panic, she took a few steps back. "I just wanted them to divorce."
Alex took my hand. "Let's go. We'll find another place to eat. Let's leave this place to the Watsons."
Before leaving, I gave Elena a look that said it all. Her face had long gone deathly pale.
As we walked out, my gaze landed on Alex's hand that was holding mine. His hands were attractive. He had long, slender fingers, and the veins on the back of his hand were subtly visible. The heat from his warm palm spread from my hand to my entire body.
When we reached the entrance, I noticed several cars pulling up in front of the hotel. A group of men in black suits and sunglasses got out, looking intimidating. The man leading the group nodded at Alex and thanked him. These had to be the men working for the Watsons.
