Chapter 23
Noelle lay in Cedric’s arms, looking dazed and confused. He looked down and saw only her smooth forehead, her wet hair falling between them. He swallowed, then gently let her The clothes are new. You can make do with the footwear for now.”
Noelle saw the clothes he had left by the door and blushed. “Thanks,” she said.
He noticed her unguarded expression and couldn’t help but scold her gently. “Don’t just open the door at night.”
She met his eyes with calm certainty. “I knew it was you knocking.”
He looked away awkwardly. “Just remember to lock the door.”
She stood by the door, her lips curving into a faint smile. Glancing back at the unfamiliar room, she felt that she was about to start a new chapter of her life. As she charged her phone while in bed, she noticed dozens of missed calls, mainly from Frank. There was also a call from Lucas, but it rang only three times before it was dropped.
She opened her WhatsApp and saw Frank’s texts.
“Noelle, where are you? Stop being stubborn, okay? Come back. I’ll have Lucas apologize to you!
- “You know you can’t hide forever in Aldoria. If Donovan finds out, the consequences will be unimaginable.
“Noelle, we’re family. Can’t you forgive these small misunderstandings?”
Noelle’s expression grew colder as she read the texts. She could never forgive them.
The next day, Noelle and Cedric took a taxi to school. She glanced back at him. “I’ll head to
class now.”
Cedric watched her safely enter the school before turning his gaze away. A luxury car pulled up beside him, and Alfred stuck his head out. “The Liddells went crazy looking for her last night. If they hadn’t run into us, Noelle would’ve never been able to hide or escape.”
Indeed, the Liddell family wasn’t to be underestimated. Cedric pursed his lips when he heard this, seemingly lost in thought.
Meanwhile, Noelle arrived at her classroom. When she reached the door, people shouted, Noelle’s here! She’s the one who pulled off that 12–hit combo in the match yesterday!”
“Oh my God, what’s her relationship with King? I’m so curious!”
