No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 651

"Yeah, guys like him, living off women, probably only see the ones with deep pockets and killer looks."

He must have done his homework on me, probably even considered making a move.

"What do you think I want from you?" I asked, my tone dripping with sarcasm.

John met my gaze directly. "It's about Deborah, right?"

So he did know about my close ties with Deborah Walker, and I didn't deny it. "Yes, I want to know what you've done to her. Beyond what you've told the cops, is there anything else?"

"Ms. Hudson, I'm under no obligation to answer you," John had the audacity to set conditions at a time like this.

"And what would it take for you to talk?" I asked bluntly.

Here he was, a prisoner, as if he had any use for money. Yet, he brazenly held up two fingers.

I chuckled, "Aren't you worried about stacking blackmail on top of your other charges? Plus, even if I handed over the cash, where would you even spend it?"

His expression grew serious, "Not for me, for my parents."

His words caught me off guard.

The guy was no good, but you've got to hand it to him—the way he loved his parents was something else.

"I doubt they'd even accept it if I went to offer them the money," my comment made John face reality.

After a moment, he spoke up, "I didn't do much to Deborah, just tricked her into getting me some cash."

As if I'd believe him. "If it was just that, why did she take her own life?"

John hung his head, remaining silent.
