No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 723

Ernest had once faked his own death, and now he was willing to endure a beating rather than risk exposing his identity. Deborah had paid an even greater price, one that could ruin her life forever. They had come this far, and if we called the police now, all their efforts might be in vain. Besides, if the police were effective, the Sapphire Lounge wouldn't be operating so audaciously. I knew we couldn't just let this go, especially since Fanny was a staunch defender of women, and she couldn't stand to see another woman suffer such abuse.

"Fanny, how is Deborah doing? Is she awake? Can we talk to her, please?" I asked.

Fanny said nothing but led me to Deborah's hospital room. Seeing her there, with tubes attached and an oxygen mask covering her face, my heart ached thinking about the injuries Fanny had described to me.

"I'm okay," Deborah managed to say, sensing my distress and trying to comfort me.

Tears flowed down my face as I gently held her hand. "Deborah, I swear I'll get justice for you. I promise..."

She nodded and even managed to smile at me.

She always loved to smile, and I loved seeing that smile. It used to make the world seem brighter. But now, her smile felt like a knife cutting through my heart...

"You should report this," Fanny urged, speaking on my behalf.

Deborah's smile froze, and she shook her head, "No, don't..."

“That's a foolish decision,” Fanny said, clearly pained and frustrated with Deborah's choice.

"I know, but I...don't regret it," Deborah said, her eyes dry despite the obvious pain and fear she felt.

Her eyes stared blankly into the distance. "I have to...catch them all..."

Fanny had already heard my reasoning and wasn't surprised by Deborah's decision, so she didn't press further. Instead, she reassured her, "I'll do everything I can to ensure you heal without any lasting damage."

Deborah blinked slowly before closing her eyes.
