**Hypocrisy!**
Fanny silently scoffed. One moment he's denying it, the next he's admitting it. Wasn't it just an excuse to reject someone? Why not just be straightforward?
"Don't believe me? Ask her," Sinclair passed the buck to Fanny.
Fanny inwardly rolled her eyes. What did this have to do with her?!
At this point, any girl would realize Sinclair was rejecting her and would just walk away. But instead, the girl turned to Fanny, as if seeking her confirmation.
Fanny didn't blame the girl but shot Sinclair a glare before she could respond. Then Sinclair dropped a bombshell, "She was just asking me about taking my girlfriend to the gynecologist."
Fanny was speechless.
The girl gasped, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and then she turned and ran away.
"Looks like you've broken quite a few hearts with that slick move," Fanny teased.
Sinclair merely responded, "The spaghetti's here."
With that, the waiter arrived with their spaghetti, and they began to eat in silence. Fanny noticed Sinclair eating with such focus, it made her take her own meal more seriously.
The place must be popular for a reason because the spaghetti was deliciously spicy, even making Fanny break into a sweat.
In contrast, Sinclair looked as though he was savoring a fine French meal, calm and composed.
After finishing their spaghetti, Sinclair wrapped up the conversation. Fanny bid him farewell, "Uncle, I've got things to do, see you around."
"Fanny," Sinclair called after her, the first time since his return.
It took Fanny back to her childhood, how he used to call her. She looked at him, waiting for what he would say next.
"From now on, if you have any questions, just ask me directly. No need to guess," Sinclair's words made Fanny cringe internally.
As if there would be a next time. She wasn't planning to pry into his business anymore.
