No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 820

"Is there a deal going down?"

I had been present for the entire funeral, and so had Dustin. I hadn't noticed anyone leaving or doing anything suspicious. But these kinds of things are usually kept under wraps; only those involved would know.

I glanced at Dustin. His face briefly flickered with panic, but it was gone in an instant. Still, it was enough to make me think there was something up with him. Otherwise, why would he be so jumpy?

As the police approached, everyone held their breath, including me. The lead officer walked straight over to Conrad. Even though Dustin was now technically running the Wagner Group, in everyone's eyes, Conrad was still the big boss, the head of the Wagner family.

The officer presented a search warrant to Conrad. "Mr. Wagner, we need to conduct a search."

This was a cemetery. What could they possibly search for, unless it was on each person?

"Alright," Conrad agreed.

"We need to search the casket being buried," the officer continued, stunning us all.

Conrad, however, remained calm and collected. Did he know something we didn’t? His behavior had been peculiar all day.

"I don't agree to this," Dustin interrupted angrily.

The officer looked at him, waving the warrant in his face. "We're executing our duty."

"We're cooperating with your duty, but opening the casket is a no-go. It's disrespectful to my deceased parents. And… what if you don't find anything? What then?" Dustin's words were firm and defiant.

"If we don’t find anything, that’s just as normal as finding something. We’re here because there’s been a report, and we have to investigate," the officer explained authoritatively.
