No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 826

I stood there, feeling utterly powerless, as they took control and started digging. I couldn't do anything to stop them as they unearthed the mound of earth where I had buried the box.

It didn't take long for them to retrieve the urn from the makeshift grave I had created.

These guys were ruthless and fearless, especially since they knew Ernest was alive and well; the urn had nothing to do with the dead.

"Mr. Clark, we found it," one of them said, holding the urn out to Allen.

Allen didn't take it. He just looked at me and said, "Felicia, when you first got this, didn't it ever occur to you to open it and take a look?"

"You think everyone's as twisted as you?" I shot back sarcastically.

Allen chewed on a piece of straw, "It's called curiosity, seeing is believing."

"Well, when your dad kicks the bucket and gets cremated, be sure to take a peek," I mocked him.

But then I added, "Though you probably won't get the chance."

"We'll see about that," Allen grinned, "Felicia, since you've never seen what's inside, why don't you do the honors and open it for everyone?"

I knew he wasn't just messing with me. He was being cautious, afraid there might be a booby trap inside the urn.

Did he think this was some Indiana Jones adventure, with hidden switches and traps?

"Allen, you're such a coward. If you're scared, just admit it," I vented my frustration with some verbal jabs.

"Yeah, I'm scared, so why don't you protect me, darling?" Allen's words made my skin crawl.

Looking at him now, it was hard to believe he was the same person I met before. Back then, he seemed like a reckless playboy, but at least he was somewhat human. Now, he was just shameless scum.

He was the perfect example of someone who had given up on everything.
