No More Waiting, She Chooses Love novel Chapter 829

Allen deftly dodged out of my reach, his long arms making it impossible for me to snatch the ring back.

"You're really hung up on this ring," Allen smirked, studying it closely. "Makes me wonder if there's something fishy about it."

He turned it over in his hand, inspecting it again. "Maybe there is."

"Allen, you're out of your mind," I shot back at him.

Ignoring me, he continued to examine the ring. I was exhausted from the struggle, and being pregnant made me even more prone to drowsiness.

I drifted off into a deep, dreamless sleep, only to be startled awake by something furry brushing against my face. I opened my eyes with a jolt.

The car had stopped, and Allen was teasing me with his cat's tail. He was always either fiddling with a piece of yarn or playing with a cat—seemed like he had a thing for soft, fluffy things.

People like that often have a bear paw-sized hole in their hearts, craving affection.

I glanced at his face; he was smiling slyly. "You sleep like a log. Guess you trust me enough not to worry about being sold off."

"You still need me around," I retorted, evading his cat as I stepped out of the car.

In front of me stood a grand mansion, surrounded by trees, flowers, and a sparkling pool. The environment was surprisingly pleasant.

I realized Allen intended to keep me here, perhaps to use me as leverage against Ernest. But if this was where I'd be held, at least I wouldn't suffer too much.

"Where are we? I want to go home," I said, testing Allen's response.

"This is home now," he replied smoothly. "You're the first woman I've brought here; this is a privilege just for you." He coaxed the cat toward me again.

I wasn't particularly fond of cats or dogs, especially now that I was pregnant. They were carriers of germs, and it was best to keep my distance.
