Lenora quickly tried to smooth things over, picking up some food with the serving fork for Gerald. “Grandpa, try these baked eggplants. I made it myself. You used to love it.” 

Allison chimed in. “Look, Nora even remembers what you like. I’m even getting a bit jealous.” 

“Nora is indeed a filial one.” Gerald picked up his fork, nodding with a cheerful smile. “Unlike some heartless ones, who only seem to upset me. It’s as if they won’t stop until they’ve angered me to death.” 

Zachary was speechless, 

“Grandpa, please don’t say that. I’m sure you’ll live a long and healthy life,” said Lenora. 

Lenora’s parents divorced when she was very young, and her custody was given to her father. To be precise, it was her mother who didn’t want her. In all the years that followed, her mother never once came to see her. 

Her father was busy with work, so initially, she lived in the countryside with her grandparents. However, a few years later, after the passing of her grandparents one after the other, her father brought her to live with him. 

The year she turned sixteen, her father also passed away, leaving her utterly alone. 

That was, until her grandparents took her in, providing her warmth and giving her another place to call home. 

She didn’t want to endure the pain of losing loved ones again. 

As such, no one wished for her grandfather’s good health and long life more than she did. 

Throughout the meal, aside from Zachary, the other three were exceptionally harmonious. 

Lenora was thinking of ways to entertain Gerald and Allison. They were chatting and smiling, looking like a real family. 

The housekeeper nearby also said, “Ever since Ms. Wilkin arrived, Old Mr. Fuller’s spirits have been much higher than before.” 

After dinner, Lenora played chess with Gerald for a while.
