“Thank you, but neither of us are winners.” Lenora put down her fork. 

“I can return to Clusia, but I want you to take me to the airport,” Zachary suddenly stipulated.

“Okay. Actually, on the day we got our divorce certificate, I wanted to invite you to dinner, just like how you treated me to a meal the day we got our marriage certificate. It was my way of returning the favor, a good ending to our journey. But unexpected events happened. Today, we can make up for it. Starting tomorrow, you’ll go back to focus on your work, and I’ll continue my journey. We won’t interfere with each other’s lives.” 

When she spoke these words, her heart felt heavy and ached with a bitter sting. 

But she knew she had made the right choice.

Zachary still had a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He verbally agreed, but inside, he felt a bitter and sour sensation, as if he were drowning in a sea of emotions.
