During their marriage, they kept a low profile. Other than answering calls from Miles, Lenora wouldn’t pick up any other calls for him, yet she didn’t shy away from his phone. 

However, from the day of their wedding anniversary, she never looked at his phone again. 

Somewhere along the line, she had stopped leaving the light on for him when he came home late She longer laid out his suit and tie for the next day, nor did she care if he ate his meals on time. She even stopped calling him Zack. 

She gradually distanced herself from him. 

He was oblivious to everything, still harboring the audacious hope of keeping her by his side. 

Lenora noticed something off about Zachary’s expression and curiously asked, “What’s wrong? Did meeting not go as planned?” 

“No.” Zachary paused before he spoke. 

He swiped across his phone screen, noticing a missed call from Elijah, and returned the call. 

Lenora closed the magazine she was holding and casually placed it on the table. “Do you have time now? 

“Just a moment.” 

The call connected, and Zachary made a gesture, placing the phone against his ear. “Hello? What’s up?” 

On the other end of the line, Elijah said something that made Zachary’s expression swiftly turn grave and angry. “Are you sure? Alright, I understand. I’m on my way.” 

Once he had hung up the phone. Lenora asked, “What happened?” 

“Sorry, I need to step out for a bit 

“How long? When will you return? 

“It won’t be too long. Would you mind waiting here for me for a bit?” 

After giving it some thought, Lenora realized that she had already been waiting, so a little while longer wouldn’t make a difference. “Just make sure you come back soun.” 

“Okay.” 

Zachary picked up his coat and left the office. As he passed through the workspace, he instructed his secretary to bring some snacks to Lenora. 

In front of the police station, the back door of the black car swung open, and a finely crafted leather shor. paired with black trousers, was the first to touch the ground. 

Zachary casually closed the car door. Elijah, who was standing at the entrance, immediately walked over. He glanced at the police station’s main hall and said. “He’s arrived. He’s still inside.”

Johanne left the interrogation room in displeasure. As he turned around, he suddenly halted in his tracks. 

Zachary was standing just three steps away from him, his gaze deeply fixated on him. “Johanne,” Zachary

lightened, caught off guard for a brief moment. However, he quickly regained his composure, “Zack? What a coincidence. Are you here to see Ms. Carston?” 

Zachary suppressed the anger in his heart, forcing a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Actually, I’ve come to we you? 

Johanne fell silent for a few seconds. “Me?” 

“Do you have some time? We haven’t seen each other in two weeks. How about we grab a drink?” 

Johanne looked at Zachary, hesitating for a moment before giving a slight nod. “Alright.” 

Zachary subtly shifted to the side, making way for Johanne. 

Johanne pressed his lips together, and taking a step forward, he passed by Zachary. 

Zachary walked shoulder to shoulder with him, suggesting, “Hop in my car. We’ll have someone take yours back later, 

Johanne’s pace faltered. He glanced toward the direction of his car, his fist suddenly clenched and then 

relaxed. 

When he arrived, he was driven by a chauffeur. However, Zachary insisted on having someone drive his car back. 

Clearly, the driver was already under Zachary’s control 

“Johanne, please.” 

Zachary took the initiative to open the rear car door, turning his gaze toward Johanne. 

His demeanor appeared humble, yet every move he made radiated an undeniable dominance. 

Johanne glanced at him, then ducked down to get into the car. 

Subsequently, Zachary slid into the vehicle, closing the car door behind him. He then relayed an address to the driver. 

The driver acknowledged with a sound, fired up the vehicle, and headed toward the club, 

Inside the car, it was eerily quiet, the atmosphere heavy with silence.

Johanne’s appearance at the police station and his meeting with Susanna had essentially confirmed Zachary’s suspicions. 

After Elijah uncovered the hidden connection from college days, where Susanna had once pursued Johanne, Zachary understood what was going on. However, he still held onto a glimmer of hope in his heart. 

After all, Johanne was his elder brother, someone whom he felt immense guilt for, someone whom he deeply respected. 

Why did he have to do this? 

Beside him, Johanne appeared completely at ease.

The best way to hide a misdeed was not to commit it. 

From the moment Lenora began investigating the kidnapping case, he was already prepared for everything to come to light.

In the quiet confines of the car, Zachary was the first to shatter the silence. Each word was punctuated by a gritting of his teeth. “Why did you have to do that?”

As soon as his words fell into silence, he didn’t speak again, and Johanne also remained quiet. 

Upon arriving at the club, the waiter led the two to the entrance of the reserved private room. Opening 

the door with a welcoming gesture, he said, “Please, come in.”
