No Way Back (Jane and Hugh) by Anna Mac novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35
Peter was so agitated that he coughed violently.
Larry immediately sht his m*uth.
“D*mn it!” Larry cursed himself for not being to hold his tongue. He had spoken too soon.
This had nothing to do with him, but he had butted in nonetheless.
However, only Larry would dare say something like that.
It was because he was an outsider.

Nobody from the Fowler family would have dared say that in front of Jack after knowing that he had wronged Jane.
Jack’s face turned dark immediately.
What had Peter meant by that?
Had Jack wronged an innocent person?
It was as Jane had described. Jack had not gotten his facts right and even gotten physical in public, flipped over Jane’s food, created a scene, and accidentally hurt Lila.
To be honest, since Jack was not that young, he had made been mistaken
before.
But to be mistaken about the same person…
Not once but twice…
The first time was the online trending incident.
The second time was this incident with Peter.
This was a first for Jack.
Dwayne’s eyes flittered a little.
In the end, he did not say anything.
So what if his father had been mistaken?
Dwayne knew his father’s temper all too well.
All of Jack’s seven sons were a chip off the old block.
Even if they had done something wrong, their pride would never allow them

to look back.
“Dad, in the future, please don’t bother Jane again,” Peter said.
“If you do, it’ll only increase our guilt toward her.”
Everyone stared at Peter in surprise…
Especially Madelyn and Dwayne.
Peter had changed.
In the past, Peter would have never said a word about feeling guilty toward
Jane.
“Peter, you… I saw you lying unconscious. I heard that you had met with Jane earlier and so I was worried that you…”
Jack felt very humiliated to be called out like that by his son.
Thus, he subconsciously started to find reasons to justify his actions.

“Dad, I know you worry about me,” Peter said.
Peter did not blame his father at all.
His father had made things difficult for Jane again because of him.
Peter felt even guiltier after learning that.
Peter had decided to bear that burden.
The entire school clinic fell into silence, which was difficult to describe.
“Oh, all right. Let’s drop this topic,” Anna said. “Peter, are you hungry? I’ll get some chicken soup for you to eat.”
“Thanks, M*m.”
Peter knew that Anna wanted to diffuse the awkward mood.
Hence, he went along with her.
Larry saw how complicated the situation was. He quickly made up an excuse to leave.
Besides, Peter was fine.
In the end, this was a family matter for the Fowler family.
Larry felt very awkward being sandwiched in the middle, so it was best for him to leave.
Madelyn volunteered to buy chicken soup for Peter.

Chapter 35
As a student at the University of Oricle, she was familiar with the area and could buy the soup faster.
Dwayne was worried about Madelyn, so he went with her.
Madelyn and Dwayne went together to buy chicken soup.
Dwayne walked ahead of Madelyn.
He did not walk alongside her.
Madelyn suddenly felt a greater sense of panic.
It was not only Peter.
Even Dwayne seemed to have started to change.
After thinking for a while, Madelyn asked in a demure voice, “Dwayne, do
you think that Peter seems to have changed?”
“This time, it really was Dad’s mistake.”
Dwayne replied after a short silence.
A mistake was a mistake.
Dwayne was not the type who was unwilling to admit his mistakes.
Of course, his dislike of Jane did not disappear because of his guilt toward her.
Such a stubborn pri*k should have her head slammed hard against the wall until she bled.
Then Dwayne would not be stingy with his mockery of Jane.
She deserved that for not listening to her big brother’s advice.
“Dwayne, do you think Janie is pitiful?”
Madelyn had tears in her eyes, and the tip of her nose had turned pink. “Janie keeps getting misunderstood. She left our family only because her heart must have turned cold. Dwayne, why don’t we persuade Janie to come back?”
“There’s no need to,” Dwayne said. “If we went now, she would just treat us coldly and insult us.”
His eyes became colder after he remembered how he had been insulted by Jane not too long ago.
Come back to the Fowler family?

Chapter 35
If Dwayne had been asked before this incident, he might have wavered.
It was too late now.
Jane could only dream about coming back.
Jane was disobedient and like a time bomb. She would only bring disorder and chaos to the Fowler family.
She had to leave the family.
Madelyn saw Dwayne’s heart very clearly. Her heart started to pump more easily.
Even though Dwayne had changed a little, he still hated Jane like before.
Now, it was Peter who was more difficult to deal with.
But it was only Peter. He could not possibly cause any trouble by himself. Madelyn had to maintain her hold over her parents and remaining brothers. As long as she did, Jane would never return to the Fowler family.
Jane and Lila parted ways.
Once Jane arrived home, she started to sort through her evidence to prepare for the lawsuit.
Andy was a very good lawyer.
Even so, Jane could not underestimate Jack as he was the Emeritus Chairman of Fowler Corporation and possessed significant clout.
It was naturally better to be prepared.
Otherwise, that old scu*bag might get away scot-free.
Jane kept busy for a full two hours before she finally stopped.
She glanced at the clock.
It was already nine at night.
“I think I have prepared enough evidence.”
Jane smiled, confident that she would win.
She thought of throwing a frozen hamburger in the oven for dinner.
B*zz… B*zz…
Jane’s phone vibrated twice.

Chapter 35
It was a message from Hugh.
Jane opened the message and read it.
Hugh’s message read, “I’m sending food to you. Do you want it?
He had also sent a picture of an unknown black, gooey mass.
At first, Jane did not want to reply.
But the picture of Hugh’s unknown black food piqued her curiosity.
What the heck was that?
Was Hugh messing with her?
Jane sent a reply, “What is that?”
Hugh texted back, “People with Type Omega blood start to lose their sense of taste as they get older. This food was developed by countless scientists and food critics I consulted. It doesn’t look appetizing, but it doesn’t taste bad.”
Jane was taken a little aback.
She did not know about that side effect.
It was no wonder that in her past life, she always felt that food did not taste right.
After this rebirth, Jane was now 19. She had not experienced this side effect yet.
Jane pondered deeply and felt that she should plan for her future.
Jane texted, “Well then, Mr. Croft, thank you for your kindness. How should I pick it up?”
Hugh texted back, “Give me your address. I’ll deliver it to you.”
Jane did not send a reply.
After a while, Hugh texted again, “Is it inconvenient?”
Jane texted back, “No.”
She sent Hugh her GPS location.
Jane knew Hugh well.
Hugh was a man with the ability to find out Jane’s exact address very
easily.

Chapter 35
It was impossible for her to try to hide such an open piece of information
She would be fine as long as she did not drop her sock puppet identity.
Half an hour later…
Jane’s doorbell rang.
She went to open the door.
She saw that Hugh had made the delivery personally.
There was no one else.
“Aren’t you going to invite me in?”
Hugh was a self-assured and proud man. His voice was low and husky. He sounded very sexy.
Jane let out a small cough. “This is the home of a single woman.”
“Relax,” Hugh said. “I never force others to do what they’re unwilling to.”
