After a chat with Kristin, Jason headed back to the bedroom to find Estrella fresh from the shower, stepping out of the bathroom.
Seeing him, she beamed, “You’re back.”
Estrella looked exactly the same as she did years ago, unchanged.
Her smile took Jason back to their early days at Ravenwood College. He couldn't help but pull her into his arms, resting his chin on her shoulder as he always did.
With his face close to hers, he took a deep breath, then let it out slowly before affectionately calling her, “Babe.”
Hearing that, Estrella’s smile grew even wider. “You’re being so cuddly,” she teased.
“Babe, I need a hug,” Jason said playfully.
Estrella wrapped her arms around him, laughing. “Aren’t I hugging you right now?”
Jason grinned, “Kiss me.”
Estrella chuckled, stepping back slightly before tiptoeing to peck his lips twice. “Kiss, kiss.”
Jason, ever the playful one, pushed further, “I want a real kiss.”
His playful demands made Estrella burst into laughter. This man knew exactly how to get to her, even better than she did.
After the laughter, Estrella firmly took his face in her hands and planted a real kiss on his lips. Nibbling gently, her kiss was soft and tender.
Feeling the heat, Jason wrapped one arm around her back and the other behind her head, deepening the kiss. Passion ignited between them, and they were lost in each other until they were both breathless.
Estrella pulled away, gasping for air. Jason, seeing her like this, teased, “My wife is incredible; just one kiss and I’m all fired up.”
Estrella laughed at his comment, playfully slapping his chest, “Go take a shower.”
Jason kissed her once more, promising, “Babe, wait for me. I’ll be quick.”
“Alright, alright, I’ll wait. Hurry up.”
“Okay.”
After promising Estrella, Jason grabbed his pajamas and hummed a tune on his way to the bathroom. Not long after he had cleaned up, he jumped into bed and snuggled Estrella into his embrace. They chatted and played around for a while before settling down.
Jason shared with her about Hans and Paloma, and Estrella gently stroked his face, offering comfort.
“Estrella, I’m not mad. It just feels like years of drama have finally ended, and we can actually start living a good life,” Jason admitted.
After years of turmoil, Jason was exhausted. Estrella rested her head on his chest, nodding with her eyes closed, “Yeah, let’s live a good life, work hard, and raise Isaac and the baby on the way well.”
Jason kissed her forehead, saying softly, “Yeah. Let’s sleep.”
Estrella snuggled closer, hummed in agreement, and drifted off to sleep. Holding Estrella felt so right to Jason. She was soft, fragrant, and gave him a profound sense of belonging.
If Jason's past hadn't been blown wide open, Hans might never have brought Paloma back home, letting that lie live on forever.
He had dragged them into this mess once; he couldn't fail them a second time.
Plus, there was a bit of self-interest. He didn't want his current life to get disrupted.
Now that the cat was out of the bag, he had no choice but to come back and deal with it.
Listening to Landon, Hans said, “Bringing Paloma back this time, I just hope everyone can live a good life from now on. It's on me for getting the news too late, making you all suffer another two years.”
Landon poured Hans a drink: “Hans, no more words needed, let's just drink.”
Decades had passed, but Landon Cole and Hans didn’t feel any awkwardness; after all, that was all water under the bridge.
What mattered most was that everyone could now live comfortably, and Jason wouldn’t have to leave.

The next morning, when Jason woke up, Estrella was already awake.
After having breakfast at home and dropping Isaac off at daycare, they drove to the registry office.
It was a beautiful day, and there was a long line of couples outside the registry office, all waiting to get married.
