30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 456

Taylor's expression shifted dramatically, but Leonora didn't notice until she tied her hair back and caught a glimpse of his changed demeanor.

As she faced him, before she could say anything, Taylor cut in coldly, "Leonora, what am I to you?"

His question, though clear, left Leonora puzzled. He hated that their interactions felt like a duty, yet to her, that’s exactly what their relationship was. Besides, all they ever did together was that one thing.

At that moment, Leonora realized she had been led astray by Taylor. Once, she couldn't even watch a kiss scene on TV without switching channels. Now, undressing had become second nature to her. Good habits are hard to form, but bad ones catch on all too easily. On this, Leonora could write a book, being a prime example herself.

After a long, silent stare at Taylor, seeing his continued displeasure, Leonora innocently asked, "Isn't this what our relationship is about? Didn't you pursue me just for... sleeping together?"

Her candidness left Taylor unable to lash out. She was right; their encounters were purely physical. After a moment's silence, Taylor instructed, "Put your clothes back on."

Complying, Leonora bent to pick up her clothes from the floor, hoping to quickly resolve whatever this was and head home. Silently dressing, she watched as Taylor approached the bar, poured half a glass of red wine, and offered it to her.

Leonora shook her head, "I don't drink." She had always disliked alcohol, especially after one regretful night of overindulgence with Taylor, vowing never to repeat the mistake.

"Relax a bit," Taylor insisted, not taking the glass back. With a reluctant acceptance, Leonora took the wine. Taylor's lips curled into a smirk as he grabbed a bottle of water for himself.

His preference for water over wine in this moment irked Leonora, almost pushing her to the edge of cursing him out. Despite her irritation, she downed the wine in one go, immediately breaking into a coughing fit.

Choosing silence once more, Leonora felt the sting of Taylor's manipulative affection. Yet, as they lay together, Taylor's post-coital tenderness brought her back to reality, reminding her of the complex layers of their relationship.

Dressed and comforted by Taylor's fleeting kindness, Leonora felt the weight of their situation, the impossibility of a future together, despite Taylor's suggestive musings about children. Their relationship, tangled in need and convenience, left Leonora yearning for something more, something real beyond the confines of their secret encounters.

Leonora's heart raced as she reflected on Taylor's words from moments ago. Fear crept in, a gnawing dread that Taylor intended to drain even the last shred of worth from her body, that she might never escape his grasp. So, she remained silent for a long stretch, lost in thought, before finally speaking up. "I'm not feeling all that great, physically. I don't think I'm cut out for having kids. Maybe, Taylor, you should consider someone else for that."

In truth, there was nothing wrong with her health. She simply didn't want to bear his children.
