30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 527

When Taylor spoke, Leonora turned to face him, her tone tinged with frustration. "Taylor, you always do this. The moment I give in a little, you push for more."

"It's gotten to the point where I'm actually afraid of you."

"Weren't things better when they were simpler?"

Taylor wasn't sure whether to laugh or feel bad. Leonora's reluctance to cling to him was something he found both amusing and endearing.

Before meeting her, he never brought women home. If he had, they would probably have been ecstatic, staying up all night thinking about how to please him.

But Leonora was different. No matter when he tried to get closer, to deepen their relationship, she resisted.

Yet, the more clear-headed she was, the more Taylor cherished her.

Gently massaging Leonora's hand, Taylor said, "You've been avoiding me for days. Is it too much to ask for a little of your time?"

She had been secretly job hunting, and Taylor hadn't made a big deal out of it.

When Taylor mentioned her avoidance, Leonora felt a twinge of guilt.

Not only was she avoiding Taylor, but she had also been secretly looking for jobs behind his back.

As Leonora prepared to respond, Taylor beat her to it. "Don't reject me," he said, pausing briefly before adding, "My feelings for you are genuine."

With that, he took her hand and kissed it gently.

Such a show of vulnerability from Taylor made Leonora struggle to resist, reminding her of how caring he had been at the hotel, spending the entire evening with a smile on his face.

With a slight frown, she said, "I'll try calling my mom and see. If she disagrees, you can't keep pressuring me."

Taylor had developed a fondness for acting coy and showing his softer side, always ready to speak up.

And somehow, Leonora found herself relenting more to him, not wanting to disappoint or oppose him.

"Alright."

After Taylor agreed, Leonora dialed her friend Joselyn’s number. “Mom, I’m staying at Joselyn’s tonight.”

Upon hearing this, her mother, Shania, immediately sounded displeased. “You can hang out with anyone but seem to avoid your father and me. Don’t you like spending time with us?”

“Mom, it’s not like that. I just want to chat with Joselyn. I’ll come back tomorrow.”

“Once a girl grows up, she’s out of her parents’ grasp, isn’t she? Just remember what your father and I look like, that’s all.”

Having been well-behaved at home for a few days, it was frustrating to be out again.

Especially since she wasn’t out pursuing romance or bringing a boyfriend home, which naturally upset Shania.

In the passenger seat, Leonora felt awkward as her mother ended the call.

Taylor was still beside her.

Putting her phone away, Leonora turned to Taylor, only to see him smiling.

Leonora’s expression darkened. “You’re laughing? This is your fault for making me take a leave from my mom.”

Taylor replied, “Your mom’s probably upset thinking you’re out all the time without bringing a boyfriend home.”

Kneeling by the bed, Taylor gazed at the sleeping Leonora, admiring her fair skin and delicate features, his eyes filled with tenderness.

Touching her face and stroking her hair, he was utterly smitten.

At that moment, Taylor never imagined that what began as a scheme to get back at Grant, using Leonora as a pawn, would lead to genuine affection for her.

Leaning in, he kissed her cheek. Suddenly, his phone rang from his pocket.

Standing up, Taylor pulled out his phone to see a call from his mother.

Worried the call might wake Leonora, he took the phone and stepped into the adjoining study.

“Mom,” Taylor had barely uttered the word when Carrie’s voice came bustling through the phone, “Son, I heard you took a girl out to dinner with Jason and the others tonight.”

Before Taylor could get a word in, Carrie continued, “I’ve been getting calls all night, either congratulating me or asking when the wedding’s gonna be.”

“Son, did you take Arielle to meet Estrella and Jason? I’ve told you so many times to bring Arielle home for your father and me to meet. Why haven’t you listened?”

“I’m telling you, you better bring her over soon. Your dad and I have already prepared the welcome gifts.”

Listening to his mom, Taylor couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time.

He had just gotten home with Leonora when Kristin’s call came through.

In short, there were no secrets in their circle. Any little rumor, and absolutely everyone would know about it.

When Taylor didn’t respond immediately, Carrie added, “Son, you and Arielle have been together for a while now! You have to be responsible for her; you can’t just date her for so long and then not commit.”
