A Caged Songbird's Escape: Into the Arms of a Predator novel Chapter 549

Marcia nearly vomited blood. Knowing that Elissa and Tanya were standing right there watching the trainwreck, the veins in her temples throbbed with white-hot rage.

Ask for her hand in marriage.

How dare this ugly freak even dream of it!!

Still, she didn't panic. The Wilkinson family would never allow her to marry a piece of garbage like Wyatt.

So, suppressing her fury, she waited for Rex to rip Wyatt to shreds.

Rex was notoriously vicious and unforgiving with his words.

Having him completely humiliate Wyatt and force him to back off was the perfect scenario.

Listening to Wyatt, Rex just wanted to go home and bow down in worship to Laurel.

If Laurel hadn't dug up the truth about Marcia's bloodline, Rowan would have returned to Vistapeak City and mocked him for three days straight.

Having Marcia as a sister was bad enough.

Having Wyatt as a brother-in-law would be a fate worse than death.

Acting as though he couldn't see the sheer revulsion on Marcia's face, a faint, cryptic smile played on Rex's lips. "What era do you think we're living in? Let's drop the arranged marriage formalities. If you really want to marry her, just treat her well. As long as she says yes, we have no objections."

On the surface, he didn't explicitly agree, but the underlying message was crystal clear.

If Wyatt could wear Marcia down until she gave in, the Wilkinson family would give their blessing.

Marcia was paralyzed with shock. She stared at Rex in total disbelief. "Rex, he... he's Wyatt Crest!"

Rex had lived in Vistapeak City his entire life. There was no way he didn't know about Wyatt's repulsive reputation!

She never imagined that, despite his coldness toward her at home, he would actually throw her to the wolves on something this massive!

Rex raised an eyebrow, nodding solemnly. "Yeah, I'm not blind."

Marcia was left utterly speechless.

Unable to endure another second, Marcia ground out through her teeth, "I'm telling you one last time—the baby in my belly has absolutely nothing to do with you!"

She would literally die before she ever married him.

Having lost interest in the circus act, Elissa grabbed Tanya's hand and strolled into a random boutique.

Tanya, however, hadn't quite had her fill. Looking back over her shoulder, she smirked. "Talk about karma. Evil truly punishes evil."

Elissa teased, "Are you talking about Wyatt, or Rex?"

"...Both, I guess."

Tanya could tell that since returning to the Wilkinson family, Marcia must have severely crossed Rex at some point.

The man held grudges and exacted revenge without an ounce of mercy.

But she still felt something was off. No matter how vicious Rex was, he surely wouldn't force his own flesh and blood to marry a piece of trash like that.
