At first glance, his tone sounded calm.
But Ian, having been by his side for so many years, easily detected the abnormality.
When had his boss ever spoken with such uncertainty?
In Ian's eyes, Rowan had always been decisive and fiercely resolute.
Ian's heart felt heavy, and for a moment, he couldn't find the right words.
He wanted to say that Elissa had been brilliant since childhood—if she could survive the old Murphy witch, she could easily survive this. She would definitely make it out safely.
But right now, he didn't even know where she was.
Her phone had remained completely unreachable.
It was obvious she was in grave danger.
In the driver's seat, Evan gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white, the pedal practically pushed to the floor as they wove through traffic at breakneck speeds.
Every second they saved increased the chances of Elissa coming home safe.
When they arrived at Atwater Manor, a maid answered the door. Seeing Rowan's chillingly dark expression, she flinched in fright. "Mr. Murphy, are you looking for..."
Rowan swept a dark glance over the courtyard. "Is Frank here?"
"He is."
Rowan's gaze sharpened into an interrogation. "When did he get back?"
The maid thought for a moment. "Probably at least half an hour ago?"
Saying this, she stepped back to let them in. "Please come in."
"If you want to see the Young Master, I have to inform the Old Madam first."
As she spoke, they had already entered the reception hall, and the maid hurriedly moved toward the stairs.
Rowan stopped her. "I can't see him without Old Mrs. Atwater's permission?"
"...Probably not."
The maid glossed over the specifics. "Our Young Master has been in the Family Chapel ever since he returned."

The maid answered honestly. "The Maybach he usually drives was taken to the shop by his driver this afternoon for maintenance."
Which meant the people who took Elissa were very likely sent by Frank himself.

"You've known Frank for years. You know he's not deceitful enough to pull something like this..."
She still couldn't believe Frank would put on a flawless act of repentance while secretly having his men kidnap Elissa.
The more she thought about it, the colder her blood ran.
This was precisely the doubt lingering in Rowan's mind as well.
They had been friends for many years, after all...
But when it came to Elissa, he couldn't afford to easily trust anyone.
His jaw clenched tight. "Just bring Frank out here."
