Allen flashed a sinister grin. "Anything to take down Jack, that bastard. Patrick, you just have to say the word. I'm all in."
"Perfect!" Patrick clapped his hands, laughing. "Allen, are you free now? If you are, let's get together tonight and drink till we drop."
Meanwhile, at a detention center elsewhere, the investigation team was interrogating Peter.
But just like before, the questioning was getting them nowhere. Despite the solid evidence, Peter clenched his teeth and refused to confess. He even knew a few counter-interrogation tricks, making the whole process even more difficult.
Still, with the case being so high-profile and the evidence undeniable, he had little chance of getting bail. The authorities weren't about to let someone like him slip away easily.
The Trevell Group had already dispatched a powerful legal team to support Peter. Leading the charge was a top attorney who had once served the royal family of Angleria. He had powerful connections and carried serious clout, both in Tarthy and overseas.
Peter believed that if he could just grit his teeth and hold on, those detaining him would eventually have no choice but to release him. The opposition might be powerful, but his family wasn't easy to push around either. They had been rooted in Tarthy for years, with influence that ran deep.
He'd even planned out his life after release.
He would eat and drink to his heart's content, indulging in pleasures to vent his frustration. Then, he would consider how to take revenge on those who had put him behind bars—with Jack and Elias being at the top of his list. He swore to tear them apart, leave them with nothing, and haunt their lives forever.
But instead of news of his release, Peter was greeted by the last person he wanted to see—his most loathed enemy, Jack.
Jack and Elias had come to visit him.
To their surprise, he was living quite comfortably in the detention center. Other than being cut off from the outside world and losing his freedom, life there wasn't all that different from the world beyond those walls. He even had a TV and a spacious living space.
It seemed this was a world ruled by money. With enough wealth, even prison offered better living conditions than most commoners could afford.
