A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6558

---

Ashford Hollow, the Cliff of Contemplation.

Master Alaric Vale still sat cross-legged on the flagstone, his white hair and beard stirring gently in the night wind.

Floating before him was an ancient bronze divining mirror.

On its surface appeared Adrian's face.

"Chief Preceptor,"

Adrian's voice came from the mirror, calm and clear. "I've already recorded the full details of the battle in the Godfall Wastes on a jade slip and sent it back through the Teleportation Array.

Also, a clash broke out today in the outer reaches of the Ashford Range. The celestials and the demons fought over the Lava Lion King."

"And the result?" Master Alaric asked, his voice flat and unreadable.

"The celestials lost more than ten men, and the demons took heavy casualties too. But in the end, three demon powerhouses appeared. One of them was a woman with strength above Golden Immortal Level Three. She killed the celestial field captain in a single move.

Then the demons left with the Lava Lion King's corpse."

Master Alaric's brow shifted, just barely.

A demon woman above Golden Immortal Level Three.

That caught his interest even more than Jared's battle had.

"What did she look like?"

"A dark-crimson gown. A mark of the Inferno Devil bloodline on her forehead. As for her cultivation... I couldn't see through it. But she was at least at peak Golden Immortal Level Three.

Possibly higher."

Adrian paused. "There's one more thing, Chief Preceptor. I think this may interest you even more."

"Go on."

"Before she left, she looked toward a scree heap beyond the valley basin. I sensed two people hiding behind it. They were there the entire time.

They saw the whole conflict from beginning to end."

Master Alaric's eyes widened for the briefest instant, then went still again.

"She noticed them?"

"I'm not sure. She looked that way for a long time, like she sensed something, but she didn't stop. She just turned and left."

Adrian continued, "I didn't dare get too close. I was afraid she'd detect me. But when she left, she headed north."

North.

Toward the Northern Abyss Frost Chasm.

Master Alaric tapped his fingers lightly against his knee and fell into thought.

Jared was going to the Northern Abyss Frost Chasm.

That woman was headed there too.

A coincidence?

Or was it arranged?

And if it was arranged, by whom?

The demons?

Or some other force?

"Adrian," Alaric said at last.

"I'm here, Master."

"Stay on Jared's trail.

Not too close, and do not let him notice you.

If he runs into danger, help him as long as you can do it without exposing who you are.

And if he enters the Northern Abyss Frost Chasm... you go in after him."

Adrian fell silent for a beat. "The Northern Abyss Frost Chasm is one of the frozen forbidden lands. With my cultivation..."
