A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6566

He whipped the chain in a frenzy, forcing the Hall of Radiance cultivators around him back several steps.

It didn't matter. More of them closed in almost immediately.

Golden holy radiance blasted at him from every direction.

He twisted and dodged as hard as he could, but several strikes still hit. The golden light burned across his skin, charring flesh black and filling the air with the stench of scorched meat.

He roared and lashed the iron chain out.

It wrapped around one Hall of Radiance cultivator's neck. He yanked hard. The man's neck snapped, his head flew off, and the headless body swayed twice before crashing to the ground.

But that was the last time he moved to kill.

Several saintlight pillars struck his chest at once, blasting a fist-sized hole straight through him.

Dark-crimson blood and shattered organs spilled from the hole.

His body went rigid for a heartbeat, then he slowly dropped to his knees. The iron chain slipped from his hand and hit the ice with a harsh metallic clatter.

His eyes were still open, fixed in Josephine's direction.

His mouth moved, as if he wanted to say something, but only a rush of dark-crimson blood came out. Then he went still for good.

All three Golden Immortal demon cultivators were dead.

Josephine watched it happen, and tears welled in her dark-crimson eyes.

They weren't tears of grief.

They were tears of rage.

Her clansmen were dropping one after another right in front of her, and there was nothing she could do.

Her fists clenched so hard they creaked.

Her nails bit into her palms until dark-crimson blood seeped out.

She wanted to charge over there.

Wanted to throw herself at those Hall of Radiance cultivators and fight to the death.

But her body wouldn't let her.

Her spiritual power was spent. More than half her blood essence was gone. And the wounds in both arms made even clenching her hands agony.

If she rushed in now, she'd only be throwing her life away.

She didn't care.

She would rather die than stand there and do nothing while her clansmen were slaughtered in front of her.

Josephine clenched her teeth and forced herself toward the battlefield, each step stamping a bloody footprint across the ice.

"My lady, don't!"

The few demon cultivators left in the True Immortal Realm rushed up from behind and grabbed her, holding on with everything they had.

"Let go!" Josephine's voice came out raw and shaking.

"You can't go! You're the holy maiden of the Inferno Devil bloodline. If you die, our bloodline is finished for good!"

Tears filled the eyes of one young demon cultivator. "Please... you have to leave. We'll cover you."

"I said let go!"

Josephine violently shook off their hands.

She only made it two steps before her footing slipped, and she nearly went down on the ice.

Her body had hit its limit. At this point, even walking had become a struggle.

The middle-aged man watched her and curled his mouth into a cruel smile.

"The holy maiden of the Inferno Devil bloodline. Peak Golden Immortal Level Three. You really are a rare opponent."

There was a vile kind of pleasure in his voice, like a cat toying with a trapped mouse. "Too bad you dragged too much dead weight along with you. If you'd come alone, maybe you could've fought me to a draw. Maybe you even would've had a chance to take the Heart of the Abyss. But you insisted on bringing this pack of trash..."

He shook his head. "Then dying here is no injustice."

He lifted the golden sceptre, and the sunstone at its tip gathered holy radiance once more.

"Now it's time to send you on your way."

Golden holy radiance condensed at the top of the sceptre, brighter and denser with every breath, until it compressed into a golden orb the size of a human head.

The power packed inside it was enough to erase Josephine completely.

Josephine stood where she was. She didn't dodge. She didn't defend herself.

Not because she didn't want to.

Because she had nothing left.
