A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6617

A blade of coldness crossed Jared's eyes.

Dead?

No.

That was impossible.

Josephine was alive.

She had to be alive.

"Could she have gone to the Nineteenth Firmament..." he murmured, thought moving through his violet gaze.

The young cultivator added, "Envoy Gareth also said that if Mr. Chance chooses to enter the Nineteenth Firmament, you may contact him. He has some standing there as well."

Jared nodded.

"Thank Envoy Gareth for me."

The young cultivator cupped his hands again. "I will. Take care, Mr. Chance."

His body turned into a streak of silver-white light and vanished into the sky.

Jared remained where he was, looking west.

That was where the Eighteenth Firmament stronghold of the Inferno Devil bloodline was located.

He had to go.

Even if Josephine was not there, he had to see it for himself.

He had to confirm her absence with his own eyes.

...

The next morning, Jared left Ashford Hollow with Gwendolyn.

Master Alaric Vale had intended to accompany them, but Jared declined.

"Master Vale, Ashford Hollow needs you here. The three hundred disciples are in seclusion, and someone has to watch over them. Gwendolyn and I are enough. The Inferno Devil bloodline's stronghold should not be a real danger."

Master Vale was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Be careful, Mr. Chance."

Jared nodded back and took Gwendolyn toward the far west.

The far west lay on the western edge of the Eighteenth Firmament, millions of miles from Ashford Hollow.

They traveled at full speed and flew for three full days before they arrived.

The place was a dead mountain range stretching for thousands of miles. Peaks rose into the clouds, but not a single plant grew on them. Only bare stone and gravel covered the slopes.

The sky was gray. Thick clouds smothered the sun, leaving the entire range in a dim, oppressive light.

Sulfur hung in the air. Heat rolled up from the ground and bent the distant scenery out of shape.

The Inferno Devil bloodline's stronghold lay deep inside those mountains.

Jared and Gwendolyn landed on a peak. Jared looked down.

At the foot of the mountain sat a vast basin.

In the middle of that basin stood a black palace built from dark demonic stone. Savage fiend totems had been carved into the walls. Each fiend's eyes were real red demon crystals, flashing like blood in the gloom.

Low buildings surrounded the palace in dense clusters, forming something like a huge village.

Paths wound between them. Demonic cultivators in black robes walked back and forth. Blood-colored demonic markings were embroidered on their clothing, each mark turning slowly and releasing a sinister aura.

The stronghold held many people. Jared swept his spirit sense across it and found at least two or three thousand demonic cultivators.

Their cultivation was not high.

Most were in the True Immortal Realm. Only a handful had reached Golden Immortal. The strongest aura was only Golden Immortal Level Three.

Before Jared, that was not enough to matter.

He glanced at Gwendolyn. "Let's go."

They dropped from the peak and flew toward the palace in the basin.

Soon, they landed in the square outside the palace.

The square was wide, its ground paved with black flagstones. Blood-colored demonic markings covered the stone, slowly rotating and giving off an eerie pressure.

Dozens of demonic cultivators were gathered there, talking among themselves.

Jared and Gwendolyn's sudden arrival made them stop.

Then weapons came out, and the two were surrounded.
