A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 115

Chapter 115

Joseph saw that Cora had arrived. She asked with concern, “I heard you were in a car accident. Are you hurt?”

“I’m a doctor. I would know if something was wrong. I’m fine, so don’t worry,” replied Joseph.

Joseph studied Cora. If he had told her about Marla from the beginning, Marla couldn’t have gotten far if Cora did something.

At the same time, there was another possibility. Cora might cover everything up, erasing every trace of her affair and making sure that Joseph would never discover who the biological father was. Currently, he didn’t trust her at all.

“What are you doing here then?” Cora asked, seeing that Joseph was fine. Since Fiona had already told her that the accident wasn’t serious, she believed that he was fine.

“Marla knows who Natalie’s biological father is, so I came to question her. Unfortunately, she had no intention of telling me. And she ran away,” answered Joseph after thinking for a moment.

“Marla?” Cora repeated the name. She searched her memory for any connection with Marla and realized that their interactions had been limited to business dealings involving Jenton Tourism.

As for any connection to Natalie, she could hardly think of one. She became suspicious. How had Joseph connected Marla to Natalie in the first place? Was he trying to bait her into revealing something?

“If Marla didn’t have anything to hide, why would she flee so suddenly? That isn’t normal!” Joseph replied.

“You’re right. I’ll have someone look into her,” said Cora, finding it strange too.

Joseph noticed that Fiona was around as well, so he handed her back the car keys and got into Cora’s car. Then, they headed home together.

*Joe, how did you end up tracing this back to Marla?” Cora couldn’t help but ask.

“Now that Marla is gone, I can’t look into anything. Cora, if you find her, I hope you don’t keep it from me. I want to know why Natalie’s DNA test report says that she isn’t my daughter,” stated Joseph.
