A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 243

Chapter 243

When Grace saw that Joseph had returned, she followed him into his office and asked, “They didn’t give you any trouble, did they?”

Joseph said frankly, “It was just a meal. Besides, I’m Mavis’ attending doctor. What could they do to me? They wanted me to go to Croma with Mavis. They offered generous benefits and a customized career path. Unfortunately, none of it aligns with what I want. So, I rejected them.

“I’m 40 years old. I’m not young. They aren’t going to lure me away with a few perks and promises.”

“So, they were really trying to employ you. What they don’t understand is that if you were that easy to recruit, Mavis would have recruited you a long time ago. Besides, the older you get, the less willing you are to leave your comfort zone,” replied Grace with a smile.

Grace respected Joseph. Zachary and Yasmin definitely gave Joseph a generous offer, but Joseph still rejected them. Grace could tell that with Joseph’s stubbornness, his feelings for Cora probably wouldn’t disappear overnight either.

Even if Joseph were to successfully divorce Cora one day, there was no guarantee he would accept another woman afterward, including Grace.

At the thought of something, Grace advised, “They aren’t exactly kind. Since you turned them down, they might target you and take revenge. Especially Zachary. I rejected him last year. Later, he drugged me and almost succeeded. Luckily, my mom and her family arrived in time and got me to a hospital.”

“Be careful. Unless necessary, stay away from the Yeager family. Stay in Jenton. Find a job, and you can support yourself,” stated Joseph.

Joseph’s feelings for Grace were complicated. He hadn’t divorced, so he couldn’t choose her. Yet, he cared about her. After all, they were more than just friends.

“This time, Mavis isn’t taking me back with her. She’s letting me stay in Jenton. Of course, that means I’ll have no say in New World Group’s affairs anymore. At most, I’ll still manage the bar,” responded Grace.

“That’s great. If necessary, I’ll talk to Mavis and let you stay here,” said Joseph.
