The injured men were the same group who had gone after one of the Zahn family’s nightclubs the day before. The Zahn family had tracked them down to their rented apartment and ambushed them.

It seemed that the Zahns were retaliating quickly.

Joseph treated each of their injuries before contacting a few informants he had inside the Traditional Medicine Center. So far, no large group of assault victims had been admitted there.

He thought to himself that the Zahn medical sect might have other medical facilities.

After that, he gathered everyone at the clinic for a meeting. He told his staff that the next few days were probably going to be busy, so they should all get plenty of rest while they could. He also mentioned he would be increasing overtime pay and adding some extra benefits.

The following day, an unconscious poisoning victim was rushed to the clinic.

It was Belinda.

Joseph was surprised when he checked on Belinda. As he treated her, he called Katie over.

Katie was surprised as well. “This is the poison that affected Maurice. That person should already have left Jenton, so the poison shouldn’t exist around here anymore.”

She immediately contacted Kenneth for information, and his answer was the same.

Joseph said, “I’ll ask Belinda how she was poisoned after she wakes up.”

Saving Belinda came first. He quickly prepared an antidote and carefully administered it.

After a lengthy rescue effort, Belinda was finally pulled back from death’s doorstep. Only after he questioned her did he find out that Belinda had actually poisoned herself.

Combined with the fact that she’d been dining with members of the Towne family, it meant that everyone at that table had likely been poisoned as well.

It seemed like Belinda would stop at nothing to achieve her goal.

Joseph found himself looking at her in a completely new light.

When Paula arrived, the two of them transferred Belinda to Jenton University Hospital.

He’d already saved Belinda, but the clinic wasn’t the best place for recuperation. Jenton University Hospital was much more suited for that.

Not long afterward, one of Joseph’s informants at the Traditional Medicine Center sent him an update. The other members of the Towne family who had been poisoned alongside Belinda were all being treated there, but every one of them remained unconscious.

Jenna and the others hadn’t been able to cure Maurice before. Faced with the same poison, they were just as helpless now.

Joseph had only just returned to the clinic when an ambulance from the Traditional Medicine Center pulled up outside. The paramedics wheeled out another member of the Towne family and asked him to take over the emergency treatment.

Not long after, Cora arrived in person. When she did, she immediately said, “Honey, I’m begging you. Please save one person. Just one.”

She handed him the patient’s medical records, and Joseph glanced through them. The patient’s name was Jeffrey Towne, and he was suffering from the same poisoning.

He shook his head. “My clinic doesn’t have the necessary facilities. How exactly do you expect me to treat him? Take him to the Traditional Medicine Center or Jenton University Hospital.”

Cora replied immediately, “Then I’ll transfer him to Jenton University Hospital, and you can come back there to treat him.”

Joseph looked at her. “Cora, do you not understand how things work? I was fired from Jenton University Hospital, and now you want me to go back and practice medicine there? Who’ll take responsibility if something goes wrong?

“Besides, they fired me because I was no longer useful to them. But when they need me, I’m supposed to come running? Who do you think I am?”

Cora frowned. “Why are you being so stubborn? You’re a doctor.”
