Chapter 434
Joseph followed Jenna into another room in the ICU and saw Wallace. He examined Wallace as well and realized that the vitality in his body was extremely strong.
Clearly, someone had given Wallace a powerful medicine to save his life, and its effects were keeping him alive. Otherwise, given his critical injuries, he would have been dead by now.
However, the vitality provided by the medicine wouldn’t last for long. If Wallace couldn’t take another dose, he would be done for.
Jenna asked, “Well? Can you save him?”
Joseph shook his head and stepped to the side. He wasn’t a god and had no divine powers. Of course, he couldn’t save Wallace. In that case, there was no reason to act.
Jenna was a little displeased, but she didn’t say much. She followed the standard emergency procedure and stabilized Wallace’s condition before leaving with Joseph.
Seeing that he was about to leave, she said, “Take these medical records with you, and go through them later. Be here at 8:00 am sharp tomorrow. We’ll make rounds together.”
Joseph didn’t even look at the medical records and said, “Did you really think I’m your junior who has to do everything you say? You’re getting way into this, aren’t you?”
“Didn’t you agree to this yourself? Are you seriously going back on your word?”
“If you want to treat the Zahns, I can stay by your side and help you out, but I won’t do everything you say. The next time you go treat Owen and the others, take me with you. I want to see what that old man really looks like.”
Joseph wasn’t about to let Jenna push him around. He only agreed because it gave him a chance to gain access to the Zahn family and see the elders’ conditions for himself. He would rather die than work for Jenna and do her bidding.
Joseph also took note of what Yara mentioned earlier about rising to power. That revealed the Zahn family was in turmoil.
