Upon seeing that, Joseph said, “I knew you wouldn’t believe me. You can ask Wesley yourself. I treated him according to what’s written there. I’m not asking you to copy it word for word. You’re an expert. You know as well as I do that another person’s experience can still be a valuable reference.”

“Alright. I’ll accept it for now,” replied Jenna.

Just as Jenna turned to leave, Joseph cleared his throat and said, “Are you really just going to take it and leave? It’s like you found it lying on the side of the road.”

Jenna asked, “Do you want the family records? I’ve been looking for an opportunity to get into Emerald Mountain. I’ll do my best to get it for you.”

Joseph replied, “That isn’t useful at all. If I waited for you to finally get around to helping me, it would already be far too late. I’ve already solved the family records problem.

“What I want now is the Zahn family’s data. I want their genetic database. They have a biotech lab. I’m sure they have related research. I want their data and test results.”

“You truly know how to exploit every loophole,” said Jenna.

Jenna was at a loss for words. Once Joseph knew that Yara had ALS, he would conduct a comprehensive genetic analysis to determine the cause. In fact, those genetic screenings had already begun.

Joseph instructed, “Get it to me as soon as possible. Otherwise, one of my friends will beat you to it, and you’ll just be useless.”

Upon hearing that, Jenna glared at Joseph before turning to leave.

That evening, Peyton called. She told Joseph that Cora had approached her about working together and that she had handed over the treatment plan for Wesley.

Peyton was trying to patch things up after the damage was already done, or she was acting first and planning to explain later. Joseph just acknowledged it before ending the call.

After dinner, Joseph worked out in the gym he had set up next door. He exercised just enough to break a sweat before stopping.

Just then, Joseph received a video call from Yasmin. Her makeup was flawless, and she was dressed in a custom evening gown. However, she appeared to be in her home’s dressing room.

Joseph barely glanced at the screen, though. He continued flipping through his documents as he asked, “Are there any new leads on her death?”

Yasmin replied, “If you really can’t forget about her, come to Croma. Visit her grave.”

Joseph responded, “If all you’re offering is nonsense, I’m ending the call.”

Yasmin quickly said, “Wait. Joseph, I’m asking you as a favor. Come to Croma and treat someone for me. I’ll cover all your travel expenses. I’ll also pay you. After the treatment, I’ll reward you even more.”

“Doctors don’t make house calls uninvited. If you trust me, bring the patient to my clinic. If I can treat them, I will. If I can’t, find someone better,” stated Joseph.

Joseph didn’t even look at Yasmin. After ending the call, he felt an ache spread through his chest.

Grace’s death still haunted Joseph. He often had nightmares about her. Their time together had been brief, but

every memory felt real. Thinking about those happy moments left his heart aching all over again.

Joseph suspected Yasmin hadn’t done everything she could to look into Grace’s death, but Lacey’s investigation had also turned up nothing. It made him question whether or not his instincts were wrong.

Later that night, Joseph returned to the clinic. A new batch of biological samples from the remaining suspects had arrived. He continued comparing them against Natalie’s DNA.

Around midnight, the results came in. Joseph noticed that one of the samples Peyton had provided had been switched out. It belonged to a complete stranger.
