A Man with Nerves of Steel (Joseph Hart) novel Chapter 472

Chapter 472

Cora failed to recognize that the doctor standing beside her was Joseph. To her, he was nothing more than an ordinary young physician at the hospital.

Joseph entered Yara’s room and saw that Yara was already awake, but she hadn’t even washed up or combed her hair. Her breakfast, prepared by her caretaker, sat untouched on the bedside table.

She looked like she was in a bad state.

He told Yara to go freshen up, and that they would need to do an examination afterward.

After he left, he didn’t go far. Soon, he heard Cora’s voice from inside. “Are you hiding my husband? If you are, you’d better hand him over.”

Yara snorted. “If he falls into my hands, you should start preparing for his funeral.”

Cora replied coldly, “Just try it. Whoever kills him will be buried with him.”

Silence followed.

Joseph thought to himself that he did not need Cora’s protection. She should be more concerned about her own problems.

He turned and headed toward another room-Edmund’s.

Edmund had survived far longer than Joseph had expected, which only made him even more interested in the Zahn family’s niraculous pills.

He began wondering how he might get Jenna to part with one.

Of course, Edmund’s repeated blood transfusions had also played a role. They might not be particularly effective, but they learly weren’t entirely useless either.

n any case, someone as wealthy as Edmund wouldn’t die easily.

‘t happened to be during the change of shifts, so hardly anyone was around. It allowed Joseph to examine Edmund without

nterruption.

After a thorough examination, he reached the same conclusion as before. Edmund was barely holding on. He could die at any

noment..

When he left the room, Joseph spotted a familiar stranger in the hallway.

It was Luke’s housekeeper.

After that, he saw Luke lying in a hospital bed.

What was that old man doing here?

Joseph didn’t go in or reveal himself. He simply lowered his head and walked away.

After Jenna and the others finished the morning handover meeting, she quietly called Joseph over and led him to Luke’s room.

The doctors took turns checking on Luke. After offering a few reassuring words to the old man, Jenna left with Joseph.

Back in her office, she asked, “What do you think of Luke’s condition?”

Joseph replied, “Make your own decisions.”

Jenna smiled faintly. “You’re still trying to protect your cover, aren’t you? Then let’s make the act more convincing. I’m not asking you to treat him. I’m just asking for your opinion.”

Since Joseph was using her right now, she would make use of Joseph as well.

“Then let’s make it convincing. “Joseph had Jenna pull up Luke’s complete examination records. After reviewing them, he hypothesized that Luke has been poisoned with a slow-acting poison.

Jenna’s eyes widened. “So the Towne family from Westoria has finally made their move.”
