“I…” Hannah flinched at his yelling, sobbing even harder now.
She caught the key point in what he said.

“But you went through all that trouble to buy her that bag, and she didn’t even use it. She didn’t even touch it. Doesn’t that mean she doesn’t care at all?!”
Ethan felt like he’d been punched in the gut.
Yeah…
She didn’t even touch the things he gave her.
In his mind, he saw Amelia standing under the lights just now, wearing that dazzling necklace worth a fortune.
The bag he gave her? She treated it like trash.
But the necklace Mason gave her? She wore it proudly, letting everyone see it.
Was it because his gift wasn’t expensive enough? Or was it because she couldn’t stand him?
A crushing wave of defeat slammed into Ethan’s chest, making it hard to breathe.
The anger he felt toward Hannah somehow started to fade.
His voice softened without him even realizing it. “Alright, stop crying.”
He rubbed his temples, clearly tired. “Don’t ever do this again. If you need money, just ask me directly.”
Hannah couldn’t believe it. By twisting the story and making it seem like Amelia didn’t care about the gift, she managed to dodge a huge disaster that could have ruined her.
Ethan still looked grim, but his anger had clearly shifted.
Hannah let out a quiet sigh of relief and realized she had to keep the act going to make sure she was totally safe.
Ethan stayed silent for a second, then asked coldly, “Besides that bag, did you touch any of her other things?”
“Absolutely not!” Hannah swore right away, raising her hand. Tears still clung to her lashes. “Ethan, it was only that one! I was planning to buy her the exact same bag from the store once I

won prize money from the contest, and quietly put it back to make up for it… I swear, I wasn’t trying to steal from her!”
Listening to her explain only made Ethan feel more annoyed.
He just nodded.
That huge anger had already changed into something else.
Yeah. What’s the point of yelling at Hannah?
The one who really made him feel like a loser was Amelia.
“From now on,” he said flatly, his voice full of exhaustion, “don’t touch any of her things.”
Just then, the host’s voice came over the speakers, “Ladies and gentlemen, the charity auction is about to begin. Please return to your seats.”
Hannah immediately took the chance and spoke gently to Ethan. “You should go back inside. Don’t be too mad at Amelia for taking that job at Stardale. She’s probably just acting out to get your attention. I’m sure deep down… she still cares about you.”
That only made the anger in Ethan’s chest burn hotter.
Amelia, didn’t you want to cut ties with me?
Didn’t you want to use that Stardale designer title to humiliate me?
His chest heaved as he came up with a plan to get back at her.
He suddenly turned around and grabbed Hannah by the wrist. “You. Come sit in the VIP section with me.”
Hannah was startled by his sudden move. She put on just the right look of panic and confusion. “N–no, Ethan! There’s no seat for me there. I can just sit with the other contestants.”
“It’s fine.” Ethan interrupted coldly, tightening his grip and almost dragging her toward the hall. “If I say you can sit there, nobody will say a word.”
He was completely driven by his anger toward Amelia.
He wanted everyone to see that Hannah was the one by his side.
Didn’t she want to draw a clear line between them?
Then he would personally take Hannah, sit her right across from Amelia, and embarrass her in front of everyone!
