A Marriage Without Touch, A Goodbye Without Tears (Amelia and Ethan) novel Chapter 332

Chapter 332 A Very Petty Revenge

The room seemed to freeze the moment Lily finished her words.

Finished.

Just seconds earlier, Mason had lifted a perfectly cooked piece of steak from the steaming pot with his fork, ready to place it on Amelia’s plate.

After he heard Lily’s words, his hand stopped in midair.

The next second, Mason pulled his hand back without a change in expression.

Instead of giving the beef to Amelia, he calmly placed it onto his own plate.

That wasn’t enough.

Under the amused, watchful eyes of the other two, Mason casually brought it to his mouth and chewed slowly, as if nothing unusual had happened.

Then he picked up his fork again. This time, he deliberately reached into the bubbling pot and picked up a cherry tomato, the one vegetable Amelia hated most.

The cherry tomato was soaked in broth; it was now limp.

He placed it onto Amelia’s plate, piling it on top of the broccoli she had only half finished.

Only then did he look up. His gaze landed on Amelia, whose face had already gone pale. He said lightly, Eat more of this. It’s good for your brain.

Amelia stared at him in shock and anger.

Is he a child?

He’s clearly getting back at me.

Across the table, Lily and Tim exchanged a knowing look. Both of them pressed their lips together hard, but their shoulders were already shaking. They were clearly about to burst out laughing.

Mason ignored them completely, as if he had just done the most normal thing in the world.

He set down his fork, lifted his glass, and took a small sip of water. When he spoke again, his tone had returned to its usual calm, selfassured composure.

If there are five people and he’s a public figure, it really won’t be convenient. He’s too easy to recognize.

It sounded like he was being thoughtful.

Then his tone shifted, and he suggested, Lucky for us, a friend of mine owns a private ranch nearby. It’s quiet and very secure. Why don’t you take him there to feed the ostriches?

The words feed the ostrichessounded strangely absurd coming from his mouth.

Tim immediately caught on and jumped in. Oh yeah, I know that place! I’ve been there before. It’s huge. The whole mountain is theirs. Total privacy. Forget feeding ostriches; you can ride horses and even do archery.”

One suggestion. One smooth followup. The two of them worked together perfectly. They quickly decided on Amelia and Henry’s plans for tomorrow.

This doesn’t seem right,Amelia said softly, voicing a weak objection.

It was something she had already promised someone else. How could she change the plan because others suggested it?

But the moment her words fell, Mason’s casual question drifted over.

What?He lifted his eyes and looked at her, his gaze dark and steady. Feeling sorry for him?

That look. That tone. Amelia felt like if she dared to nod, she would be crushed by his presence in the next second.

Amelia felt her heart shrink under his stare. She didn’t dare to say another word. She lowered her head and pretended to study the cherry tomato on her plate, food she had no intention of touching.

The air in the room grew awkward again.

Oh come on, chances like this don’t come often. Just eating is boring!Lily stepped in right on time to smooth things over. With a bright smile, she suggested, I saw they make their fruit wine here. It looks pretty good. How abouta drink?

Sure!

Before Lily even finished speaking, Amelia looked up quickly, like she had grabbed onto a lifeline.

Mason had her mind in a mess.

She really needed some alcohol. Even a little numbness would help.

If she had a little to drink, she could go back and sleep well. Tomorrow could wait until tomorrow. At least for tonight, there would be fewer things to worry about.
